[up][up][up] Easy to do with the description. That doesn't require mudslinging whatsoever.

@Octo: We are documentors or reporters of tropes that happen in fiction. We are supposed to be as neutral as possible. We can criticize those works that use those "morally wrong" tropes in Reviews, forums, or outside of the wiki. But, our job is to provide the information with as much neutrality as possible and allow others to make their own judgements on information given.

Since neutrality, even for those things, is a goal, how about something along the lines of This is to document these tropes only. TV Tropes makes no judgments on these tropes.
Or for fuck's sake. Now even "Does not endorse" is not neutral enough? For tropes like Rape Is Love? We fucking should have a judgement about that! For fuck's sake...

We are not mudslinging whatsoever. We are not here to judge it. We are here to document it. We are not here to throw our opinions on it. Go write a Review for it if you have a problem with it.

We aren't doing anything of that at all, Octo.

Well, then either those tropes are cut (I can live with that very well), or those forums are cut because Google will block us. And seeing what this community says here, I'm beginning to think I could live with that as well.

Really. "Opinions". Hah. Condemning rape shouldn't be an "opinion", but common human decency.

Bitter LOL if Google ends up blocking us after all no matter what we do now...

And seeing what this community says here, I'm beginning to think I could live with that as well.

Sure, because everyone who uses the forums should pay for what a few say.

Everyone here should know that rape isn't OK, and those who don't won't change their mind if we say it explicitly, methinks.

People say I am far on the "Not be a prude thing" but still a lot of these can be reworked by a lot IMO.

How many things are we working on at once here? I was thinking we might go to Special Efforts with a list of the rape tropes and decide which need to be renamed there. While we handle that there, we can work on other issues here without being distracted.

This.

[up][up][up] Come on do not say that I do not want to lose the Forums.... This is the only forums I go to anymore everywhere else sucks.

I don't think we need to continuing arguing about this with Octo until it becomes clear that out current methods are not enough. I do not believe he is going to change his mind and an argument over the matter is simply going to take us into non productive areas. Again, would it be acceptable to move the rename topic to Special Efforts? We've done similar things in the past such as with Badass.

Exactly, the whole point is "be as neutral as possible" and it's been that way since forever. The disclaimers are simply to ensure that people don't get the idea that we're endorsing questionable material.

Not that I'd lose a moment of sleep if we upgraded to a "rape is bad" banner, but I just don't think it's necessary.

[up]I'd say go for it. And it'll bring the matter to the attention of people who actually have the time and willpower to get it done.

"Common decency" is not the purpose of documentation whatsoever. That's not being neutral and is still against the site's mission. So no, not an option to use. Unless we're talking about acting like by not describing terrible stuff.(in detail, that is)

The only thing that has a huge chance of being cut is the forums. And the site doesn't need them either. I would hate to see it go, but people can find other places to talk or roleplay. It's not really a high priority here.(and I agree with that)

Google bans explicit material. They said nothing about documentations of reprehensible acts in fiction.

Alright then. Considering that Octo will not be convinced let's move onto the matters of the plan proposed. Should I start a thread in Special Efforts for renaming and revising (the descriptions and examples) tropes in the Porn Tropes, Sex Tropes, and Rape Tropes indexes?

The wiki didn't always "No negativity" as a rule. Introducing it was a change of rules. And in fact one that left many people very angry. So those rules can be changed again. Wouldn't even need to be wiki-wide. Just for the "terrible tropes". Don't treat rules here as if they were immutable commands by the gods! As I've said, even "no negativity" once was introduced!

Well, I take anything over nothing at all. So, no, I wouldn't, and I wouldn't be opposed to doing it personally, either, but then we really would have to clear which tropes we're talking about (there's a difference, as I've mentioned between Attempted Rape and Rape Is Love for example).
