Instead of making a supertrope (which imply examples), couldn't we make Badass Long Hair a Subindex? The splits have all a similar theme, after all, and the Badass Index is already crowded.

We have a Badass Establishers Index in YKTTW for stuff like Badass Longhair. Though, since it will most likely be redirected, we'll probably chuck the split subtropes there.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerWell, given it is a narrower theme, it could still be a Subindex of that.
Okay, this looks like it can be called to me.
Action required:
- Split off Samurai Ponytail, a gender neutral trope.
- Split off Barbaric Longhair, though there is an option with consensus that says this should share a page with the antihero longhair, so that name or something like it may not work.
- Redirect Badass Longhair to something like Badass
Calling crowner.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerFor the second point, I saw put barbarian hair and antihero hair on the same page. Antihero hair does not have a 2:1 ratio and if we don't get it there'll be a hole. Plus it's basically the same thing anyway.
Okay, as for Samurai Ponytail, I'm thinking these are the key traits:
- The hair is long and well kept. It might matter that the hair is almost always black since I think it's a traditional sort of image rather than just a sign of being a cultured badass.
- The character at the very least seems rather reserved and elegant
- The hair is not free flowing, but rather is bound up in a topknot which then flows down the back.
- Trope is gender neutral so long as the other points apply
Am I missing anything?

I think point 3 is problematic; the topknot has been declining in popularity in the last few decades, while the character trait has not. Just off the top of my head, Byakuya from Bleach has some little doohickeys in his samurai longhair, but nothing that would be a real topknot, and I don't think it's really even bound into a ponytail. Like Sephiroth, it's meant to make him look more elegant and noble. (It's worth mentioning that like half the male cast of Bleach has long hair.)
Rorouni Kenshin has a ponytail but no topknot.

Byakuya doesn't have the hair style, but the thing about not needing a top knot is probably true.
I agree with merging antihero hair into barbarian hair. One is derived from the other, anyway.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Okay. For Samurai Ponytail do my proposed points look acceptable? Well, for the third I"d probably revise it to something like like it has to flow down the back rather than being of any other style.
I am not super familiar with the trope, but the few places I've seen it, it's:
- long, straight, and neat
- gathered very high on the head
- almost always paired with other traditional Japanese design elements or character traits
I'll take Samurai Ponytail to YKTTW. Hopefully they can help hammer out a proper definition.
Here. Input would be appreciated.

Straight? Neat? The works of Akira Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune beg to differ. Mifune is probably the most iconic movie samurai of all time, and our page image shows him unusually straight and neat (which is to say, not very). He basically showed off his badassitude by being scragglier and messier than anyone else in his movies. :)
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. Then the name might not work if samurai aren't always elegant and whatnot. That sounds more like Barbarian Longhair, the other working title I am going with for the moment.
I'd love to help with the 90s Anti-Hero hair and Barbarian Longhair, but I'm afraid I can't do it without seeing relevant examples first. Could I have some? I'm willing to babysit a new YKTTW.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerHelllooooooooooooooooooooo? Samurai ponytail is going well, when is it ready to launch?
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerI thought we're cutting all Badass tropes.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Um, no, we aren't doing anything that drastic at all.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'll launch Samurai Ponytail on the tenth. Barbarian Longhair still needs a YKTTW right? That will also cover the 90s antihero hair.

Whoops, I meant renaming or fixing all, and cutting some.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Okay, Samurai Ponytail was pushed out the door since it had been stagnating forever. Is anyone keen on picking up Barbarian Longhair? Not really keen on doing it myself since I have a tendency to forget stuff I have in YKTTW after awhile.
How is Barbarian Longhair different from Wild Hair? And has anybody got a description for Barbarian Longhair?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWild Hair signifies close to nature. Barbarian Longhair signifies a badass who is wild and uncontrolled, but that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with nature. For example, the 90s antiheroes get lumped into that category. They're related, but they mean different things.
I could write up a description for the trope if no one else will. I just think someone else should carry it through YKTTW once I've done so.
I might be able to run in through YKTTW but a description isn't in my competence.

Crown Description:
What would be the best way to fix the page?
Hmm, we could always make Badass Longhair a redirect to legendary New Orleans R&B and Blues pioneer Music.Professor Longhair
