They didn't explain it, it just happened.
A logical Hand Wave would be that mr. whatshisname that made the system caused it to happen when he saw that Kirito was logging in.
Sugou actually saved a copy of SAO before it went down and modified it a little. Mostly the graphics, really.
i.e. He ripped off Kayaba's work and changed it just enough that people wouldn't realise he plagiarised someone else's work.
He copied even the player account data, including Kirito's, and well...stuff bugged out.

Give the God Eater game thread some love!Incorrect. Sugou DID get a source rip of SAO and used the CARDINAL system in ALO, but he never touched player data which was stored LOCALLY on the NERV Gears. Kirito was able to log into ALO using his local SAO player data, although all the items and some of his skills were not recognised. Yui, being an autonomous piece of the original Cardinal, was able to run in the ALO operating environment without issue.
The log-in that left Kirito stranded was due to a Location Data bug, since him and Suguha were logging in from the same IP cluster (I wonder if Japan has dynamic/share IP addresses), so this confused the ALO Cardinal into teleporting Kirito to the same map sector as Leafa.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Oh.
But anyway you guys get the idea. Sugou was a lazy asshole.
Give the God Eater game thread some love!Well, Kayaba later gave Kirito the SEED devkit which let VR MMO gameplay become intercompatible between worlds.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! But if that were the case, the proof would be having someone besides Kirito have it happen to him. Which could have happened in the Manga, I haven't read it.
IIRC he was given his stats from SAO thanks to the moe-fairy on his shoulder.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).I think Kirito was the only one stupid enough to log into a VRMMO using the same hardware that had trapped him in SAO in the first place.
It wasn't a concern for the merhcant who told him he could do it

Of course, the real question is why he still had his Nerv Gear in the first place. You'd think the police would've confiscated it as evidence or something.
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"They wouldn't particularly need to. The case was solved the moment it started.
Kirito made a deal with whats his face (The guy in the suit) to let him keep his old Nervgear, as sort of a souvenir.
Let me guess....it's actually superior to the new safer verion(Amusphere I think it was called or something) as long as someone isn't trying to kill you with it.
In a sense, the Nerve Gear is better than the Amusphere because of how it's stronger when it comes to reading your brain waves and shutting out other signals or something. But the Amusphere was deliberately made to be weaker for safety purposes.
Yui has nothing to do with Kirito's stats.
MMORPGs are serious business. The Nervgear completely blocks all senses, while the Amusphere leaves them slightly aware so you might notice if someone started violently shaking your body in real life or something. So the immersion is less complete, but it's safer.

Hell f*** I'd go with the Amusphere. I at least stand a chance at reviving myself if something were trying to kill me during gameplay!
I'd like to think that the Amusphere immediately signs you out when you're subjected to the Kick effect - that is, induced vertigo or something or other, such as falling from bed.

Working on a manga. With pictures! All feedback welcome! As others have said, Ampushere's don't block external sensory input as completely as the Nerve Gear for safety reasons. If I remember correctly though it's also actually less powerful. Safety concerns over potential brain-frying means that it draws less power as well so when its not frying your brain with a microwave pulse, the Nerve Gear actaully has more brute force processing capability on a local level as well, though that's not a big issue.
Yes, yes it does.
It also signs you out when it detects that you're asleep.
Give the God Eater game thread some love!Episode 2 was pretty much all about Sinon, to my surprise. Which means, .... this is probably the most intense and quality episode of the show I seen yet, since there was barely any Asuna or Kirito! Unfortunately, they appeared at the last minute. I did enjoy seeing the other 3 girls though.

Looks like they're adapting the Girls Ops manga :DDD
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!I wonder if we'll get to see Kuro, then.
That gun battle took WAY longer than I thought it would.
the guns
sound so QUIET
they don't even really have the risk of hurting people's ears in-game yet everything seems so muffled x:
MMORPGs are serious business.Episode 2 was Sinon's time in the sun...set. I like her. Green hair makes everything better. The scarf she wore in the ending song made her look like Hime to me.
Against other players, laser guns aren't as reliable as guns. But against the monsters that appear in that world, lasers are the best. Is that right?
Oh, Silica, you're still 100 years too early to expertly defeat that plant monster. Nice seeing them battle, though.
Hm? Kirito's ALO design looks a bit different, or is it just me?

He had his hair reset to his Aincrad appearance because Yui found it <<hard to sit on>>.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!
Do they explain his stats transferring due to the whole "this game is based on the same technology as the original game" thing? Honestly, it doesn't work that way as game engines don't specify stats, but...whatever.
