Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Looks like we're getting close to a decision here, but a few more votes would definitely help.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. The leader of the moment bothers me because 'weirdness' is subjective, and broad enough to probably cover most Urban Fantasies. Planet Anything Goes is much clearer on that.

The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableHey, they're both my suggestions; I have a hard time complaining if either wins. :)
But I do kind of see your point.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. There seems to be a huge contingent of tropers who thing that alliteration always makes everything better. It's rather odd.
We have 4 names with consensus ATM. Personally, I like World of Weirdness because it's the most straightforward.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI really don't see how it's straightforward. "Absurd" and "Anything goes" at least have fairly clear definitions (of which "anything goes" is closer to what we're going for here; "absurdity" usually involves deliberate craziness in order to mess with the reader's mind). "Weird" can mean unusual, abnormal, surreal, uncanny, magical, creepy, or just out-of-the-ordinary. Most fictional settings are "weird" on some level.
World OF Weirdness, not Weird World. Also, "Anything Goes" can be something like Eternal Sexual Freedom.
World Of Absurdity would be close to Bizarro Episode.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYeah, those are legitimate criticisms. I really don't think we've come up with a good one.
Well, fortunately, we're actually down to two now. So we just need enough more votes to resolve which of the two to use. If all else fails, we could have a run-off, but I'm hoping that won't be required.
I do think people are being a little too paranoid about the potential for misunderstanding here. English has a lot of inherent ambiguity, due to words with multiple meanings and whatnot, and some people will misinterpret just about any name. I agree that World of Weirdness might be a little too ambiguous (even though it was my suggestion), but Planet Anything Goes seems clear enough to me. Anyone who would assume that means Free Sex Future is probably going to be misusing so many other tropes that they should be called in for a little chat with the mods. :)
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.I don't like any of these names with "planet" in the title. Does that sound wrong and arbitrary?
I must be cruel, but to be kind That bad may begin, and worse be left behindWell, not entirely. I could see Planet Anything Goes being used for social-anarchist paradises like New Hong Kong, but those are infrequent enough that I wouldn't expect much confusion.
That said, World Anything Goes would be acceptable but I don't think it flows quite as well.
Here's a compromise suggestion: World Of Whatever?
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableWorld Of Whatever sounds like a planet where apathy is their hat.
Anyway, I think our problem is too many good choices. I don't see how adding more will fix that. I've actually already voted down choices I think are good simply to help push this towards a resolution, but it hasn't helped.
(Personally, I still think Unconstrained Absurdity is one of the best choices, but that seems to have sunk to the bottom, for whatever reason.)
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.I think people believe this is a setting trope. I would not mind using a runoff crowner for this.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAre you saying it isn't?
No. Don't read that much into it. That is why they don't use Unconstrained Absurdity.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanTo me, all the ones with "planet" in them immediately make me think it has something to do with space travel, whereas "world" does not carry the same connotations by virtue of being vaguer (as it could refer to the setting as a whole, a literal planet, a dimension, or the like).
I must be cruel, but to be kind That bad may begin, and worse be left behindBump for more votes. We really need to resolve this at some point...
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Do we need a runoff crowner?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think first place is looking pretty solid, though we might want to consider using some of the runners-up as redirects.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Eh, when I do a rename, I usually turn the runners-up in green into redirects unless they are bad.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHave we swapped in the new description?

Crown Description:
Here are the short definitions that tropers proposed in this thread for Planet Eris. To get an idea of where we should be going with Planet Eris, please vote for the ones you like, and against the ones you disagree with. These options should not be considered mutually exclusive.
No response, so I made a crowner. Calling for a hook.
