Saw it yesterday.

Great prelude for the Turtles' return to New York!

[up][up]Honestly, April and Casey's moments in this episode are relatively minor and easily ignorable for me (especially since they were only brief bits at the start and end) compared to the sheer obnoxious energy that happens during Donny's previous dumb attempts to impress her or, worse, when Donny and Casey actively compete over her.

So what do you guys think has been the most frightening episode in this show so far? I'd say "Buried Secrets" is the scariest.

I'd have to go with both "Buried Secrets" and "Parasitica". Mom-Thing is traumatizing and the zombie!Turtles are creepy. Especially possessed!Leo's psychotic smirk in both of them.

The Pulverizer's mutation was hard-hitting, daringly dark and disturbing as hell.

"Buried Secrets"? No. The voice actress for April's "mother" was a little too Narmy for my taste.

I'll have to go with the Dream Beavers episode; "In Dreams". It was really creative with it's creepy scenes. (Plus that wicked guitar bass from Demon!Donatello.)

This 'Retreat To The Woods' arc has now been in four versions (Original comics, Movie 90, 2003 series and this) and it always seems to work out.

But my question : Leo now says 'Let's go get Shredder and his curb-stomp-happy bunch', when, IIRC, NYC is overwhelmed by aliens who have turned the population into several million Eldritch Abomination looking Body Horror s. Granted, Shredder is dangerous, but aren't the Kraang the worse of the two?

I remember those Shredder clones from the '03 marathon. And I'm quite surprised that Splinter only lost his mind and his shirt from Shredder's beatdown.

I think the clones were in the comics too, if I'm thinking of the ones you're talking about.

EDIT: Yep, they were the ones I thought you were talking about. Didn't expect them here for whatever reason.

I liked 'Return To New York', but one thing. While the Mouser was led there by Splinter, it seems like you had two, non-allied sets of ultra-paranoid, shoot-first always-alarmed robots haunting the lair, yet for all these months, they never tripped over each other? It seems like that area was also patrolled by Mousers at least somewhat, and the Kraang would likely want to take Shredder out as well...so I guess they just didn't trip over each other.

Kudos for the scene where Mister 'Nope Thought Of That Too', aka Tiger Claw, finally got turned back in a meaningful way.

So the four armed Shredder is supposed to be a crab, the skinny Shredder is supposed to be a lobster, what kind of crustacean was the mini Shredder supposed to be?

And is there supposed to be a joke regarding the license plate?

Oh, I thought Mikey and/or Raph were just using "shrimp" as a slang term. Didn't know they also meant it literally.

I like the new opening, especially that shot of April and Splinter doing katas together. And I was able to make out Rocksteady and Bebop during that car chase portion.

I'm hoping this means Leatherhead is more of a recurring character, since I feel that he needs more screentime in the show.

Have no judgment on Mondo Gecko, since I'm not quite that familiar with the char.

It'd suck if Leatherhead died on the season 3 finale from either fighting the Kraang, Shredder, or old age.

Huh, new version of Shredder's three mishapen clones? Gotta see that

Anyhoo, so three episodes of horror themed episodes that I missed? Or is the one after chimera bird a different kind of episode?

I know they were just a callback but it's too bad the crustacean shredder brigade died so fast. I hope we get more absurd mutants coming out of Baxter's lab, especially now that the Kraang don't use Mutagen the same way.

For those who don't read the tie-in comics to these, the most recent issue had a VERY clever way to resolve the cliffhangers for "Fungus Humungous" and "Pizza Face".

Pizza Face is back, and he has the little Fungus mushrooms under his control, which he uses to spread fear into the Turtles to make them surrender.

I've been catching up to the series and I got to say it's pretty compelling.

Return to New York had a odd pace but the only really annoying thing was Status Quo Is God.

The Audio is Good, The Visual is good, and I'll keep watching.

Cheers
