This thread deals with all issues concerning the icons used for namespaces and their buttons, including proposals for icons for new namespaces and bugs with existing icons.
When submitting an icon, the icon images should be exactly 16x16 png with a transparent background. A gif can also be used, but png is usually better. Also, the naming convention is important. It should be the namespace in lowercase.
I am compiling a list of namespaces that need icons, and icons for those name spaces. This would be preferred to be done quickly because I've convinced Eddie to hook them up when I get them complied. I will be editing the OP as we go.
NOTE: Use the link to the sandbox in the thread title to see what still needs to be decided on.
Subpages that still need icons:
- Animation/
- FanWorks/
- Manhua/
- Sandbox/
- Timeline/
Subpages that already have icons hooked up (please note, this list has been collapsed into a note, so that the floating header post isn't huge)
Links to installation-ready icons here and forward.

For anime. Make the blue eye greyscale and set it on manga
EDIT: Eye in grayscale

The eye seems more apt for anime.
Another idea: Doraemon?
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman..

That works well too.
Grayscale DB if it works on manga. While I got photoshop opened.
The color Dragon Balls and the pill are nice...not really keen on Doraemon, the features aren't very clear...kinda the same problem that the Gundam head sprites had. I'd dearly love to use the NERV logo (#6 in ) but the letters under the leaf are messy...anyone wanna take a stab at cleaning that up?

Shrunk down that small the nerve logo looks like it's Canadian. Remember, we need an icon that can tell us what the category is all on it's own with no text.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickIt's not that universal, anyway, the same with the pill.
My reason to push something from Doraemon is to promote something more classic and enduring, a loved long-runner of some sorts. Dragon Ball sort of works. To me this route is most logical if we can't get a generic one like the eye.
(Another reason is my utter bafflement at how relatively unknown Doraemon is in the western fandom.)
For me the eye works very well on Anime and we should focus on Manga instead. I think.

The Disney/ Namespace also lacks an icon. So the Obvious Suggestion:
Is there any other common symbol for manga...? Some Japanese characters perhaps? Or the Shonen Jump Pirate?
Indeed.

The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.I think some Japanese characters would work best – they couldn't be confused with anything other than Anime, which would have a color picture, and hopefully shrink well. What would spell out manga? If it's two characters, then maybe a different word like "art" or "comic" or whatever, if it's shorter.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.IIRC, "manga" is two characters. Haiku/ is already a two character icon, or I'd say we could run with that.
The Disney one's a shoo-in, unless we want to fancy it up somehow.

Nah, Disney is simple and clean. I'll add it to the list.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickIt's "漫画", according to Wikipedia. Not sure how well those would shrink to fit in 16x16, honestly... might be better off just using something really basic, like hiragana "a" (あ)...
Moon◊Dammit, forgot about Haiku/. "A" might work, being already small enough, but some people read absolutely no Japanese and parse it all as "foreign", meaning they might not bother to differentiate. If an "a" turns out to be the clearest for Manga/, then Haiku/ might be able to go to something based on the syllable pattern and line length, but I'm somewhat against changing existing icons.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. We aren't changing any existing icons. That's not an option. We're just making new ones. Keep that in mind. We don't have that many set in stone, but we don't want to change them. That will just make the wiki harder to navigate.
All the current icons in use.◊

Fetish Fuel. Which is gone.
Perhaps I can look through the thread and put out a list of icon suggestions not yet discussed extensively?
I now go by Graf von Tirol..

For Machinima, how about the machinima.com logo?

Rhymes with "Protracted."Ad campaigns (Advertising/) too? I mean there's not a whole lot in that namespace (yet)*, but here is one possibility:
Ah... yeah, that's something to consider... yeah, I'll try to think of something else on that matter. Any ideas?

I now go by Graf von Tirol. That implies "paid content."
The child is father to the man —Oedipus
I could go for that. With the eye in greyscale for manga.
Here's another idea for anime: A dragonball.
