This trope is when the bad guy kills off his second-in-command because the second-in-command is too evil and starting to make the boss nervous. This might be tropable, but by the look of it, it needs more incubation in YKTTW, and I'd say a better title as well.
Rhymes with "Protracted."The lack of wicks and inbounds is the fault of whoever launched it. The person never wicked or or indexed it. However, I see enough examples of the main page to meet the minimum requirements for a trope.
I say crosswick it and put it on an index and call it done.
I'd say the description could us a bit of help, too. But it does seem to be a valid trope, just one that was mishandled on launch.

Rhymes with "Protracted."I don't think we'd loose anything by a rename. I'm wondering how anyone even managed to find the trope to start a TRS thread about it.
Anyone have ideas for a better name?
Name is definitely a bad snowclone. I thought it was about actual dragons at first.
Perhaps something about problematic underlings? I really really don't want to name it in such a way that you have to get another trope before getting the title.
Fight smart, not fair.I recognize the snowclone relation to Shoot the Dog. Bad Snowclone indeed ... but related to You Have Outlived Your Usefulness, I presume?
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Yes, but more like the boss is upset that they're too high on the villain threat-o meter and may usurp them.
Fight smart, not fair.hmm... Lose the Loose Cannon?

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynmantimes 8 By mashing the random button in hopes that I find a trope that applies to Warrior Cats, which I am trying to get onto Trope Overdosed.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"Obviously there'd be no harm in a rename, but how would it help? "Shoot The Dragon" seems to accurately describe the trope.
Can we at least get a couple new name suggestions first (and, ideally, an argument for why they would actually improve the use of this page)

I agree with the 'bad snowclone' crowd. "Shoot the Dog" refers to good guys doing morally ambigious things that need doing. Why would a Big Bad worry about ambiguity for any reason other than being an Anti-Villain with standards? If we want to include more reasons than that I say rename to one of the proposed names 'Disposable Dragon' which refers to the Big Bad's willingness to kill their second in command or 'Lose the Loose Cannon' which is Exactly What Is Says On The Tin and is supported by the description refering to the offed character as 'pyscho'.
"Lose The Loose Cannon" could just as easily be about the scene in every cop movie where the protagonist has to turn in their badge and gun for taking things too far.
It's kind of the like Dragon, crossed with an averted The Starscream. Seems pretty straightforward to me, but Needs A Better Name.
A name that doesn't depend on knowing the definition of a different trope would be nice.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Something punnish? Disposable Villainous Maul. Plays on the idea of a "blunt instrument."

Crown Description:

0 wicks, 0 inbounds, and a really odd and unclear description. What to do? I'd say cut it, but it seems similar to a trope I wanted to YKTTW called "Disposable Dragon", which means that the Big Bad will ditch, demote or kill his dragon when he finds someone he likes more or when he gets the thing he's looking for (be it Artifact of Doom or Sealed Evil in a Can).
What do you think?
