From the original poster: It was several misdirected links from other pages. Can't remember which one now. The page in question was using it as a very specific form of Take a Third Option. If the people who had linked here had bothered to read the page, this would not be an issue. However, "A Plague on Both Your Houses" does sound much like the stance of a True Neutral.

I found the misuse: Default to Good: A Plague on Both Your Houses was misused in the article description.

Sounds like we have good support for a rename, and decent evidence of misuse. Time for a single-prop crowner? We can debate names later.

[up]No rename crowner before concrete rename suggestions, please.

[up]Whoa, when did that change? Anyway, we've had several.

[up]Not a change, but without concrete suggestions, it's better not to discuss a rename.

I've only been away for a few months, but the general rule used to be: decide whether a rename is justified first, before discussing new names, so people won't be influenced by "ooh, I like that name", and will instead focus on whether a rename is needed.

If that's no longer true, then something has definitely changed.

In any case, we have at least one concrete suggestion. And while "imprecation" may be a trifle obscure, Dying Imprecation is a vast improvement on the current name.

Another problem with Dying Curse; it sounds like it also applies to literal dying curses (Which are more Taking You with Me). For example, in The Dresden Files, wizards can unleash a powerful spell at death known as a Death Curse, and there are at least a few examples in other works of magic spells being released as a character dies.

Ok, this one basically expired a loooooooong time ago. Unless we have a crowner now, it's gonna go to the morgue.

[up][up][up] No, nothing has changed; it's an attempt at Fait Accompli.

So anyway, here's a page action crowner: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/crowner.php/PageAction/PlagueOnBothHouses

I think we can simply make Dying Curse the name and A Plague on Both Your Houses the redirect.

That's not a problem, since that's generally still an example. Just to clarify, a "curse" in the sense of a spell, is a magical curse, in much the same way a flying carpet is a magical version of a carpet. It's still a carpet. A curse is literally when you wish an ill fate on someone. In fantasyland, it can be effectively weaponized; in the real world, it may just be a creative assault of obscenity.

I agree with pawsplay that this covers both magical and non-magical dying curses, so the current redirect, Dying Curse should be perfectly adequate.

I think we need to settle on a name. There seems to have been some disagreement about whether Dying Curse is adequate/appropriate. I think it is, but I don't want to jump without a consensus.

Ok, the way this moves is terrible. Someone make an Alt Titles crowner, or we'll have to shelve this.

Ok, crowner is here. I tossed in the suggestions that weren't either A) dialog-based, B) way too long, or C) clearly misleading.
