It's an Anime Fan Speak page.
Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered.Well it was a trope at one time before it was butchered.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I mentioned this in the Naruto thread, but I'd support moving to Useful Notes (there's already a lot of Japanese language discussion in Useful Notes anyway) or merging with You Fool!.
One Piece blog Beyond the Lampshadelebrel: Anime fans don't actually use the word. They just call the character an idiot.
Merging it into You Fool! would work.

...Which still makes no sense. All other fan speak pages are terms used to refer to character archetypes, demographics and tropes. They have special connotations. You'll find fans calling a character a Dojikko, but who calls characters "Baka"? It carries no other connotations other than "idiot, but not in English".
...And epically ninja'd. I was talking to Lebrel. >.<

"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerYou would be surprised on how many actually do use it, how many times it goes untranslated in subs etc.
This was catchy back in the day.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!It depends on what part of the web you inhabit, actually.
But the point of Anime Fan Speak is to explain some of the Gratuitous Japanese that (some) fans throw around. There's a reason there's a redirect called Fangirl Japanese (although fanboys do it too). Consider it a useful service for the non-otaku among us.

Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered. No support or reason for the suggested cut given in the opening post; just "it's not a trope".
Locking.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.
This isn't actually a trope, it's just a word in a foreign language. I'm not sure why we still have a page on this.
