Kingdom Hearts, the whole series really, but I especially love the first one.
GOH! JII! RAH!While I freely admit that there are scores games that are technically better, and there are just as many that I've enjoyed immensely over the years, I have never, ever been more consistently entrained than I was the first time I played through Chrono Trigger. I replay this game at least once ever year since it came out, and I have yet to get bored with it.
Harem anime are like soccer. They go on for hours, nobody scores, and a million fans will insist that you just don't understand. It's impossible to say. There are so many games I've played in my life that trying to pick a single best one for all time is impossible. Also, as time passed, all those little fantasy ideas I had for making a videogame are slowly coming to pass. And it's only a matter of time before the even more outlandish dream games I have in mind become reality as well.
But, off the top of my head? I guess Super Mario 64, Red Alert 2, and Metal Gear Solid 3. I've wasted how many hours on those three, ESPECIALLY Super Mario 64; when it was first released, the whole idea of a true 3D game was absolutely mind-blowing. Hell, it's still a really fun game to play today!

Kingdom Hearts 2, by a landslide.
Likes many underrated webcomicsThe Team Fortress series. No other games in the history of ever have eaten as much of my time as TFC and TF 2. I played TFC almost the entire time I was in college, competitively for a couple years to boot. Now TF 2 is out and I still play it a good bit. I've only racked up about 150 hours played in TF 2 but I probably played TFC for 2,000 hours or more in college.
A close second is the Sim City series. If I had nothing but SC 4 to play I'd be perfectly happy.
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " SpiritMega Man 3. It may quite possibly be the only Mega Man game in the classic series that feels unpolished (well, the first game might, too), and yet, it always entertains me whenever I play it. That's quite the feat, I must say. It does help that Mega Man is one of my most favorite game franchises ever!
I'm the first one to say Super Metroid? For shame. It's the best game.
Banjo-Tooie. Just did everything right.
Easy street has no parking signs. It's hard to say. My top five as of now (in no particular order) is:
- Chrono Trigger (ah yes, those emulator days! I remembered sinking several hours in several playthroughs)
- Deus Ex (everything but graphics hold up today; the multiple paths are especially good in those days and even now)
- Minecraft (by far the game I've sunk the most time in in the past couple years)
- Psychonauts (gameplay's not that special but the setting is lovingly done and it's one of the funniest games I've played in recent history)
- Team Fortress 2 (well, it is my current handle's namesake, and when I got the handle of the game I found myself enjoying it since I got it as part of the Orange Box).

I now go by Graf von Tirol.@Jamdat
BROFIST. 1994 Sonic is best Sonic!
Top 5, because the concept of "the most favorite X ever" is too limiting:
Knights of the Old Republic 2 (with TSL: Restored Content Mod), Dragon Age 2, Batman Arkham City, Mass Effect 2, Seiken Densetsu 3.
(Man, I sure do like my sequels)

"If brute force doesn't solve your problems, you're not using enough"Big Rigs Over The Road Racing, hands down, best racer ever.
Metroid Prime. It's a short game, but every single time I replay it I feel something warm and fuzzy inside. Great visual design, great creativity, great bosses, great lore, great immersion and use of the first-person perspective, great powerups, great glitches that make the game fun to break, pretty much great everything.
I think a nice way to look at Prime is to compare it to Metroid Fusion, which came out at around the same time. Fusion is a great game, but the gameplay is really just Super Metroid in another package, and even the story is just a continuation of Super Metroid. While Fusion's events were more important to the Metroid storyline as a whole, it felt rather small. Prime felt big, taking advantage of the 3D gameplay to bring the franchise to new heights and doing new things with its perspective like the scan visor.
So yeah, Metroid Prime. I think it's the ultimate expression of what a Metroid game should be: Innovative, atmospheric, minimalistic, gorgeous, and above all, fun.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Super Mario 64. The remake made it even better with the ability to play as Luigi, granting me my childhood wish!
That being said, Banjo Kazooie comes close, especially since it has one of my all time favorite worlds in a video game ever (Click-Clock Wood)!
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!Burnout 3: Takedown. The takedown mechanic gives you a way to deal with all those other racers. Crash? No problem- the aftertouch mechanic gives you something to do other than watch your car tumble in a wreck, and it's fun to take others with you. Its sense of speed is incredible, and yet you still feel like you're in control. Along with the dodging traffic/oncoming lane/drifting to build boost and this becomes perhaps one of the most exciting games I've played. I still pop Burnout 3 into my 360 every now and then for some quick thrills.
I can't really pick a top five, since I'm unable to choose what the fifth game is. But here's my top four, in no particular order:
- Super Smash Bros Melee
- Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
- Fallout New Vegas
- Team Fortress 2
I really really really love Donkey Kong Country Returns.
Skyward Sword is up there too, of course.
Mass Effect 2 all the freaking way, but before that.
Time Spilters: Future Prefect. Just picked it up from a bargain bin, best $20 i ever spent, period.

Out of all the games I've played, Super Mario Galaxy is my all time favorite. The music, and level design make it feel like the years of Mario were building up to it.
If you wanna PM me, send it to my mrsunshinesprinkles account; this one is blorked.Comix Zone will always be my favorite game. Great music, solid gameplay, symbol swearing, and killer paper airplanes! What more could you want in a Genesis title?

Don't ask what's wrong with me, because I don't know either.
Whew.
I haven't played nearly enough, but the best-crafted games are probably Grim Fandango and Photopia.
But if I was stranded on a desert island, I'd want something more tactical and stuff. Like Silent Storm or Baldur's Gate Trilogy
