Lowest? I don't think so? Maybe. Still, it was more spiral energy than Lordgenome was allowing it for sure.

I never finished the manga, but it sounds pretty cool as a supplementary piece to the Anime. Kind of sad about no fist-fight with God tho.

It's actually funny how little that happens.

An "important announcement" is coming this Wednesday.

What could it be? Who knows.

(Is still kind of bummed TRIGGER didn't announce Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt season 2 last night.)

It's taking a considerable amount of restraint not to say it.

Well, it looks like the big announcement was just a simple announcement about a blu-ray set bundling the show with the movies. That's cool and all, but it's hardly new content.

Not that I expected new content, of course, but still.

Been almost ten years, so I think they are done with it.

On the one hand you're not wrong. On the other hand Code Geass, Eureka Seven, Samurai Jack, FLCL.

I'll give you the first two (though I didn't watch anything from either Code Geass series, and only watched the original Eureka Seven).

The third one was incomplete, and the creator had wanted to finish it for years.

....FLCL has a sequel?

FLCL 2 & 3 coming next year. Jack was incomplete, but I don't think anyone ever entertained the idea of it being completed until season 5 was confirmed. There was also a solid 11 years between the End of Eva and Rebuild being announced.

Meanwhile, in Gainax news, they actually revealed a big project is in the works, namely a movie trilogy on the stories of anime god Leiji Matsumoto.

Of note:

• Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Evangelion, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Royal Space Force - The Wings of Honnêamise) is designing the characters, and
• Katsumi Itabashi (Arcadia of My Youth, Space Battleship Yamato 2 - The Comet Empire, Queen Millennia) is designing the mecha.
• Masaki Wachi (Kingdom, G.I. Joe Sigma Six) is writing the script.
• Toshihisa Kaiya (Genshiken: Second Generation, Haikyu!!, World Trigger) is serving as chief animation director,
• and Gainax co-founder and president Hiroyuki Yamaga (Royal Space Force - The Wings of Honnêamise, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, Mahoromatic: Something More Beautiful) is directing.

The only downside is the first movie (Zero Century Emeraldas) isn't coming until...2020. Meanwhile, the second (Zero Century Herlock (Harlock?)) isn't coming until 2023 while the third (Zero Century Maetel) is coming 2026.

What annoys me about Matsumoto is that his shows have a lot of Sexist subtext, and a lot of outright fascist/randian/NietzscheWannabe Text. The original Captain Harlock manga really did not age well.

Also, he's got like six character designs.

Well, in any case, I'm sure there are people who are looking forward to this.

I'm just hoping Gainax can last long enough to make all 3 of these movies. After all, we're talking about a studio that lost most of its recognizable members, is getting sued by one of the aforementioned former members for a huge sum of money, and has only managed to stay afloat because of their tomato farming (and probably from the merchandise of the IP's they still own).

As such, I wouldn't think it improbable that Gainax may go belly up before they can finish these three movies, and someone like Studio Khara would have to pick up where Gainax left off (hypothetically speaking).

I imagine if they can make it to the release in 2020, they might get some leeway back.

Don't worry about it. I was just as surprised as you probably are when I heard about Gainax's tomato farming division.

Here's to hoping they can last long enough to tackle this project.

And here's to hoping we'll still be interested in this by the time 2020 comes in.

As big of a place in my heart that this series holds... I cannot help but giggle at just how much Narm there is.

What sounded like poetry years ago now sounds like a series of random thoughts, unconnected ideas and statements, and incoherent, philosophical speeches - creating background noise to the most gorgeous intergalactic robot death match ever animated.

• "OF COURSE WE DO! THE TOMORROW WE'RE TRYING TO GRAB FOR OURSELVES IS NOT THE ONE YOU'VE SET OUT FOR US!"
• "HE'S BUILDING UP MASSIVE ENERGY. ACTUAL DIALOGUE IT'S ON PAR WITH THE BIRTH OF THE UNIVERSE! ACTUAL DIALOGUE It's almost like a big bang!"
  • "INFINITYYYY... BIG-BANG.... STOOOOOORM!"
• "MY SOUL ONCE DROWNED IN A SEA OF DESPAIR AND WEARINESS BUT HAS REAWAKENED!
• "Simon, you've come all this way so that you could finally do what you had to do, right?" ^note At no point IIRC has Simon indicated he needed to do anything beyond save Nia, but this statement seems like Nia knew this whole time that Simon's destiny was to fight the Anti Spiral - there's this theme throughout this anime evoked from Kamina right in the first episode that everybody is aware of Simon's cosmic importance
• "Lazengann is suffering a quantum breakdown!" ^note I'm glad Lordgenome knew that letting himself get disintegrated would let Simon power up the Tengen Toppa.]]
• "WE EVOLVE - BEYOND THE PERSON WE WERE A MINUTE BEFORE - LITTLE BY LITTLE - WE ADVANCE A BIT FURTHER WITH EACH TURN - THAT'S HOW A DRILL WORKS!"
• Yoko: He's right! We humans used to have someone much greater than us! For his sake alone, we'll keep on moving forward! [[note]]I know Kamina was a big deal and everything but the hyperbole here is nuts
• Simon: Mark my words! This drill will open a hole in the universe (totally off the cuff ramble about drills opening holes in the universe, DNA of past and present intertwining, what Tengen Toppa means, MAH DRILL IS THE DRILL THAT FINISHES THIS SENTENCE!
• Sorairo Days intensifies- Kyou no boku GAAAA, sono saki ni TSUDZUKU, bokura nari no asu wo, kizutite yukuuuuuu! Kotoe ha souuuuu, itsumo koko ni - arruuuuuuuuuuuu!!!! Dananananana-nanananah!

I even looked at the subbed version and it doesn't read that much better. Look at Nia and Yoko's lines right before the "MY DRILL CREATES THE HEAVENS!" line. The dub is practically word for word.

Good god if it isn't fun to watch, but it's a harrowing experience rewatching the final battle.

You bite your tongue. Trigger's spent the last eight years chasing that high, and they only came close once with Kill la Kill.

Yea...that's kind of the appeal of the series. Everybody that watches this show knows it's full of dumb shit. We just bought into it because of how over the top it is.

I genuinely enjoy all of those things.
