The description is practically a stub, and as it is the whole concept is borderline People Sit On Chairs. Also, only 6 wicks, 9 inbounds, and it barely spent 3 days in YKTTW (with little feedback) before the article was created, making it obviously a premature launch.

My suggestion: Assuming that there's something tropable in this, send it back to YKTTW, under the supervision of a troper with actual experience. Otherwise, cut it outright.

I think this is definitely a trope. I had my doubts but the Bleach example changed my mind.

Description couldn't be worse, examples are "character X does Y", and pure chairs.

Cut and YKTTW. It relates to the perception of gender roles, so there's probably a trope in here ... but it really deserves better handling than this. A bare list of examples does not a trope article make.

In some cases, it's a wife/husband thing and the wife is choosing to express when she's the dominant half of the relationship. But in most cases I think it's just Played for Laughs, like with the Ever After example.

What is this? A genderflipped version of Bridal Carry? Seems like a redundant article.

This might be a trope, but the description is awful and the image is even worse. I can't even really tell the person lifting the broad is a woman. There's not even a link embedded in the image for me to know which fandom this is myopic about.

The image is from Sailor Moon.

Yeah, this needs to leave.

@6: You're right, it does sound like a Distaff Counterpart to the Bridal Carry. But whereas the Bridal Carry tends to be romantic, this one is usually comedic/parodic.

BTW, it's pretty easy to bounce a launched YKTTW page back to the active listings. (For the record, this was launched Jan 11, very nearly one exact month ago.)

Can someone explain to me why YTKSWY or whatever isn't just a sub-forum? If it was, people who frequent TRS might actually take a look at tropes before they launch and keep things like this from happening.

Differences in their internal architecture. Otherwise, I agree that YKTTW should be handled in a more forum-like manner.

This isn't necessarily a comedy/parody trope. It's basically a Double Standard trope at its core:

Man carries woman? Omnipresent Trope. Which is why it's restricted to Bridal Carry.

Woman carries man/other woman? NOT omnipresent, because this doesn't typically happen—neither in fiction NOR Real Life.

Let's leave discussing the particularities of this trope to YKTTW.

Are we all in agreement that this should be cut and returned to YKTTW?

This thread I just started in Wiki Talk is about why this problem is happening with this trope.

In agreement here. There's a trope in here, but it needs refinement.

Hell yes.

I think the core trope is that women aren't expected to be physically strong, so showing them lifting something we know is heavy, like another person, is surprising and lets the audience know that this woman is an exception.

Okay, Cut Listed, and while it waits for a mod's approval, I took the liberty of copy-pasting the current article text to a sandbox page as a transitory step to sending it back to YKTTW.

To be honest the page is not that bad, it needs a better name and a better image, some crosswicks would help. The description is short but clear and the examples are OK, they seem to fit the description and have context.

It's been cut.

For the record, I have no intention of babysitting the new YKTTW, as I already have my hands full with juggling several TRS threads and more than 10 YKTTWs myself. Someone take the old article text from the above linked sandbox page and make a new YKTTW.

I think this trope is broader than as-launched. We know how much a person weighs, and so it's a common expression, but I think it'd be the same trope if it was some other object that we similarly know the weight of.

Maybe, but the carried person creates different context. It automatically defies gender Double Standards by having the female be in the position of power. It's the same as Tiny Guy With Huge Girl. It's as much about the juxtaposition as the objective thing happening.

I don't know why anyone would remember this. If it was a subtrope of Huge Guy, Tiny Girl maybe. But in general, just remembering a woman carrying an equally sized person? Oh well...

Anyway, this badly needs a rename. Lift And Carry doesn't explain that it's a woman at all. Unless there's a pun here, and I'm just an idiot for missing it?

Except for 4/1/2011. That day lingers in my memory like...metaphor here...I should go.

Well, it is a trope, and there's an actual fetish with that name.

However, it does come off much like People Sit On Chairs. It really needs more of an angle. Just a girl carrying someone isn't that remarkable in itself to people who aren't into it.

The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.
