I just had a completely insane idea.

Put the engine from the Chevrolet Corvette ZR 1 into a Toyota Corolla or a Lancer Evo.

People have swapped LS engines into both, but whether a LS9 would fit inside the current gen Corolla or Evo is beyond my knowledge.

how about fitting a Koenigsegg engine into a go-kart

Good luck controlling that.

There's only so much power you can put in so small a vehicle before it's completely unmanageable.

Just put a jet engine in a Beetle instead.

Yes. He also made a jet moped, it was just very, very small jets.

^^^ Witness the Super Snake version of the Shelby Cobra (itself built on the "big engine in a small body" concept): 800hp in a body weighing about 2500lb or so (forget the exact weight, offhand). Scared the ever-loving piss out of owner Bill Cosby, who joked, in his album 200 M.P.H., that it was trying to kill him just sitting in the driveway (and did kill the next owner, albeit while driving).

(For comparison purposes, the first version of the Bugatti Veyron had about 1000hp, and weighs about 4K lbs.)

Right, because that's exactly where this thread needs to go.

And some might make statements ridiculing the accusations against him. But this is the Cars/motorsports thread. Not the "hate on Bill Cosby" thread.

But anyway. Classic car fans? My dad's got a 72 Chevelle, SS clone. Gets a lot of looks, mainly because we kind of tow a boat with it.

The Shelby Cobra's complete and utter lack of torsional rigidity probably didn't help. Shelby himself actually said that the lack of rigidity meant that the wheels would probably be in constant contact with the ground, eliminating the need for better suspension. Cobras are cool, but they are lairy as hell.

My soft spot is for the '70 Chevelle SS, but that's a looker too.

I've also got a weird love for the early VW buses. They've just got a look about them.

Classic cars-wise, I want a Saab Sonett III. It's both elegant and endearingly ungainly.

I don't have the patience to run a classic car.

Then again my dream car is a Lotus, and we all know what that backronyms to.

I used to want a classic car but then I realized they all had shitty air conditioning, awful stereos and were uncomfy.

Air conditioning? Isn't that what happens when you open a window?

That air smells funny and drowns out my music.

Not to mention truly awful mpg.

Deadbeat, I don't actually know what "Lotus" bacronyms to. I know of bacronyms for FIAT^note Fix It Again, Tony, Ford^note Found On Road Dead, or occasionally Fucked-Over, Rebuilt Dodge, and Pontiac^note Poor Old [n-word] Thinks It's A Cadillac, but not that.

I know Fiat as Fehler In Allen Teilen (flaws in all parts) and Für Italien Ausreichende Technik (adequate technology for Italy)...

Some of them you're lucky to have any AC at all.

Though really, Caddies are pretty comfortable. Ride wise at any rate.
