Eh, I'm too forgetful. I always forget to return it. That, and it costs too much.
Anyway, it is nice for some games. Especially ones you're not sure about. Albeit, for some series, I downright will buy the game anyway, regardless of quality.
Quest 64 threadRenting 15 bucks a month (for gamefly) or 2 bucks for 2 nights is too expensive than 60 bucks?
And I don't think I can just buy anything from a series I loved and expect quality anymore.
Not worth the risk. I dont understand your reasoning I'm afraid. If something is not good, why buy it?

Because I collect certain series. In fact, the only Sonic game I'm not going to get is the Kinect one, only because it's just too expensive.
And considering I've never bought a game for over 10 dollars that I din't enjoy... even Sonic 2006, which I payed full price for, I enjoyed. Another thing to keep in mind is that I play games with my nephew, and we work together on the less than great games. My goal is to have fun. Quality is something that must be experienced on my own.
I don't feel like I'm wasting money either. I get to play it, I get to enjoy it. I have yet to purchase a game for over 10 dollars that I regret. At all. Sonic Unleashed? While I found it meh, my nephew didn't, and we had fun as is. I liked to watch him play, and I played some levels too. I do not just buy for myself, as I love to play games co-op/multiplayer if possible. With how often my nephew can show up, renting does not allow me to get any enjoyment out of the game.
Money is not an issue with me, it's whether I can enjoy it or not while teamed up with someone. If I can't. renting won't mean a thing to me.
Quest 64 threadI tend to only get 2 new(non-PC) games a year. And those games tend to be ones I knew I was getting the year prior.
While I like the idea of renting and such to play lots of games... I just haven't ever gone to any store, and found more than one game I'm even remotely interested in trying... So I don't believe such an effort(like the $15 for Gamefly) is worth it.
I tend to only buy new games when I really want them (Mass Effect 3, Skyward Sword). Otherwise, I just buy them when the price drops and I get around to it. So I don't feel a need to rent.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."There aren't any game rental places here, so it's not even an option for me. :'3
Estimated shipping time: 2-4 weeks. No game rental places here too. We do have video gaming cafes, but that setup sucks for playing RPGs or anything else with long stories 'cause you have to pay by the hour.
While I haven't used a meatspace rental store in forever I do use Gamefly.
You are not alone, and you are not strange. You are you, and everyone has damage. Be the better person. There's two Blockbusters here on Guam, but one is about to close down and the other is horribly out of date when it comes to quality and selection. And they're the only store that still does videogame rentals here, so that means I'm pretty much out of options.
But while they were still active, yeah, I used to get the monthly Gamepass ($20 bucks per month - pretty cheap really) from them to rent a bunch of games that I wasn't too sure about. For example last December I rented out Uncharted 3, Warhammer 40k Space Marine, Modern Warfare 3, and another game that I don't even remember one bit because it sucked so much. And before that during the Summer break I used it as well to play several other games.
Now all that's left is Gamestop, and they sure as hell don't do rentals.
Theres always gamefly.
Not here. And renting is too inconvenient for me and not really cheap here.
DumboRenting for a week when I can buy a game for £40 and get a free demo I can keep forever if I want to try a game when most of my favourite games have longevity and saves being very very important? (Fallout, Mass Effect, etc.)
No thanks.
EDIT: Not to mention that my playing style results in me often picking up my old games after a time. I've played Perfect Dark Zero as recently as last year. (hint: Bought on buying Xbox Live in 2006)

Curse the ill fortune that led you to me.Don't have any rental-place-thingies here. Or trading places. I never saw the appeal of trading. I can always download a demo or read a review online. No biggie.
I could get Gamefly, but I already constantly forget to pay my rent, so... yeah, that's not happening.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."
Not every game has a demo and reviews nowadays dont mean jack.
More often than not when I finish a game I'm done for good. I mean when you finish Arkham City there is just not much else to do.

Some people like to replay games.
Like me.
I've played both games in the Mass Effect series like, twelve or so times. Red Dead Redemption three times. Dragon Age Origins four times, and Paper Marion around five times.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Depends on what sources you see. IGN and Gamespot are always sold out, but Zero Punctuation and Destructoid are my first sources for reviews, then forums and all that.
No rental service here either. Only pirate games are sold. =.=
Personally I favor the reviews on gamefaqs.
╮(╯_╰)╭
I used to like ZP but I found out that the guy hates games that are challenging and dont fit his very very narrow criteria.
Why not gamefly?
I used to rent games from my local Blockbuster all the time, but, well, they went bankrupt and all. As for Gamefly, I have a self-decided boycott on them because... Of reasons that are likely viewed as silly and shallow, but I hold them none-the-less.
"Evii is right though" -Saturn "I didn't know you were a bitch Evii." -Lior ValAnd those are?
New releases at my local Vidrentstore $3.00 per 24hr Period, and non-new releases are $1.00
The problem is the games I wanted to rent (Catherine, Shin Meg Ten, FFXIII, MW 3, Valky Chronicles 2) are always rented out to other people.
Troper PageMostly this. But also because I doubt they accept Canadian debit cards. Mostly the first reason though.

"Evii is right though" -Saturn "I didn't know you were a bitch Evii." -Lior ValPeople raging over a bad video game in an overly dramatic fashion for comedic purposes gets you upset...?
Is it just me or does it feel like I'm the only person who still does this?
Games are becoming shorter and shorter it feels like and without demos you are basically dropping 60 freaking dollars on hype and "oh this looks good"
It blows my mind why this isn't like a default option for most people. If a game is bad, whatever, if its okay, you maybe can rent it another time and not feel too bad about how much you spent (There are many games I rented that I enjoyed but would never have dropped full price for). And if its short, well damn you just beat the game with a mere fraction of the cost (Arkham City for example)
Online passes are trying to kill the rental market as well as used games it feels like though...
Also I consider myself blessed to live near a rental store that, with a membership, lets me play videogames for 2 dollars for 2 nights. More than enough for many games.
Not to mention it enhances your repertoire of gaming.
So why does it feel like I'm the only person on the internet who still does it?
