I think it's been said that the Perfect King would take a little bit from all their philosophies.

Or at least, that's how I feel. Not sure if others would agree.

Gilgamesh was actually not that bad a ruler and might actually have been a pretty decent, if cruel, King. Though it might just be his Rank A+ Charisma making people love him regardless of how much of an ass he is.

Also, SCM is totally off base regarding Gilgamesh's vault. It didn't have everything from the start, and it is not the cause of humanity's decline. Humanity gets weaker mostly for the same reason magic gets weaker. The more there is of it, the less each bit of it becomes.

And Gilgamesh's vault didn't start out having all the stuff. The Vault is, however, limited only by human ingenuity. It basically has anything and everything humans could invent and reproduce, and he has the original, but just because he has Gram doesn't mean Caliburn can't exist. Just because he has the original airship doesn't mean that people can't figure out planes.

Basically, the Conservation of Ninjutsu is in full effect in the Nasuverse.

... That would put a totally different spin on all those fanfics where each Master summons several Servants.

Rather than smart, I'd prefer to be wise. It would let me be silly more often.

Except that humanity is already numbering in the billions by this point. Having a few dozen extra Servants would logically have a negligible effect.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.

Actually, it wouldn't. The effect would be significantly more noticeable with smaller numbers.

Going from dividing innate human awesomeness between 6,999,999,999 people and 7,000,000,000 people is a difference so negligible that even if you're looking for it you won't notice it, but the same source of power being shared by 14 instead of 7 is a pretty damn big difference, Apocrypha be damned.

Also, talking about Apocrypha.

"Do it."

"No."

"Do it."

"No."

"DO IT."

"Never."

"By the power of my command seals, I order you to do it."

Vlad sighed. He waited until one of Avicebron's golems brought him a glass and then sat on his throne. "What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets! But enough talk. Have at you!" he said, tossing his glass away.

"Hah! That's so funny!" Darnic said, looking way too pleased with himself.

"... I really hate you right now Darnic," Vlad said, glaring at his master.

To be fair, anyone who's ever played that game or seen that clip would totally do that. Even if the use of that Command Seal cost you the war, it'd totally be worth it.

Not if you phrase the Command in a way that causes the speech to buff on of his stats somehow.

Not sure how, but if you can get the Count Dracula to say that line, and make him stronger, it would be even more worth it.

The "What is a man" line? It's from the original English version of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Sooooo... I'm still on a kick of stupid AU things so... here's a thing I wrote out of boredom:

Ain't even got a title.

He wanted to save everyone.

That was his ultimate wish. His sole wish, really. All that he wanted.

Something so pure, so innocent, so void of selfishness or malice...

The lightest stain on such an ideal would therefore be that much more visible, and it started as just that. A slight stain upon a blank canvas. The lightest coating of rust on an once polished blade.

It was a seed. Planted at the best of time, planted at the worst of time - it depended on perspective. It was planted after great tragedy, and it would blossom after a lifetime of corpses, in a hill of swords.

It would bloom, when the bearer, surrounded in the discarded and the dead, would look up to the sky and finally come to a startling, horrible, but oh so comforting realization, for only then did he find true peace, true contentment... only then did he, for the first time in a very, very long while, find himself saved.

The only salvation is Death.

Rin was a bit shocked by her servant, to say the least.

She had expected a knight in gleaming, polished armor, wielding a golden, decorated sword. She had expected a knight, befitting of the class of Saber.

What she had not expected, however, was the result of her summoning. As the gathered magical energy coalesced into a recognizable shape, she found herself staring into yellow, almost golden, eyes, which stared at her inscrutably. She could not read, could not discern, could not even comprehend - and it was then that she understood that she was before a being that was fundamentally not human. That it was a being that did not understand, nor wished to understand, the thought process of humanity, and that could not be understood in turn.

It wore a red coat - a holy shroud, Rin could tell from exposure alone - and it bore the semblance of a warrior, of a veteran of a thousand wars.

"I am servant Saber. Are you my master?" it asked, its voice deep, rich - masculine - and oh so very human that it might have swayed her opinion of this being.

But it was inhuman. There was just something that told Rin that this being standing before her - this creature, this monster -, could not be human, and may possibly never have been, despite its shape.

"Yes," Rin croaked out, almost suffocating under the presence of such a being, a being that even now eyed her uncomfortably, a being which she could almost feel was already calculating the many ways in which it could end her life.

She had once believed that the Grail War would be something she was prepared for - she had spent her entire life with the idea in her mind, she had to be -, but now she understood. She was not. She would never - could never - be prepared for the Holy Grail War. This beast, this warrior - this Heroic Spirit - was unlike anything she'd ever experienced.

"Our contract is complete," it said, and it faded into astral form.

"To save everyone..." Shirou muttered. "That's why-! That's why I will never surrender!"

"I used to be like you. I used to be you," Saber said, his foot pressing against the back of Shirou's head. "But in the end, I came upon the truth. I learned, finally, that the only way to save someone, truly save, is to bring them to peace. Saving their life is not what is important. What is important is ending suffering," Saber said, pressing a bit more harshly.

"You're-"

Shirou's words were interrupted.

"You're about to say I'm wrong, you're about to say that saving lives is important," Saber said, closing his eyes, ignoring Shirou's gurgling as the boy choked due to the thin cut on his throat. Avalon would not let him die from such a small cut. "But you have not yet felt the suffering that your actions will create - you have not yet understood the pain that life brings, or the relief that Death is. You are condemning those you save to a life of pain and suffering. What use is saving the life of a man who has lost his family, his limbs, his spirit? What point is there, in prolonging his suffering?"

It had taken a few moments, but Shirou's throat had healed to the point that he could speak anew. "They can recover," Shirou said, "so long as they live - so long as there's still life, they can-"

"Oh, yes, condemn them to a life of suffering in the remote chance that they might recover, like you did. Save his life, his ruined, wrecked life, and he might pick up the pieces and build it anew. You are naive, you lack experience - you have never witnessed the suffering you yourself cause with your philosophy. But you will not have time to learn - you yourself won't have to suffer your own world crashing around you."

"How... how can you do this!?" Shirou asked, his eyes filling with tears. He could not believe a version of himself, from the future, could become this twisted and evil.

Saber placed the tip of his blade, the copy of Caliburn that he'd taunted Shirou's own servant with, at Shirou's throat. A little pressure caused Shirou to stop breathing, knowing that the sharp sword's tip would dig in if he moved his throat even slightly. "Because I, like you, wish to save everyone, Shirou. Salvation is Death."

The sword pushed in.

So... yeah.

Saber!Shirou there is basically what happens when you have a more empathetic Shirou who realizes that the people he saves aren't necessarily happy to continue living. I can always justify where he came from by having everyone he cares about survive the war - but so irreversibly and irreparably broken that he ultimately comes to the realization that Death is the escape from pain and the only true form of salvation, which is ultimately cemented when he himself dies, is freed from his burdens and ultimately discovers that the only way people will stop suffering is when they're dead.

So of course, everyone he cares about being utterly and completely broken but alive would be mostly his fault, to make damn sure it gives as big a punch as possible.

All living things shall face Death equally, that is peace.

It actually came about while I was brainstorming a Highschool Dx D crossover. A crossover that came upon my mind after I saw just how much the existing crossovers like to ignore the existence of Messiah.

Which incidentally, makes me kinda want to have Minato as a servant. Of course, with Enduring Soul and disengage by way of Trafuri and Traesto gems, Minato would be basically unkillable.

What do you mean by "ignore the existence of Messiah"? The only crossover I've read is Fake x Fate and that Shirou doesn't give much of a damn about anything other than saving people.

It's because the site ate the Persona/ that went before the Highschool Dx D. Anyway, Messiah is indeed one of the Olympus Mons for Persona 3 and also basically Jesus (because they were too cowardly to flat out give Messiah the name they obviously wanted to give it).

It could be. Either way, I think Messiah was a better choice because he's supposed to represent all Messianic figures, thus making it more of a "we're not saying it's Jesus, but it's Jesus, and also every other Jesus-like guy or gal ever" than anything else.

I've been reading a Fate Grand Order fanfic/CYOA recently that seems pretty good, Fate Hollow Order. It's pretty heavy on OCs but they're pretty good as far as OCs go. Some Servants are changed from canon like Jeanne not being a Saberface and Karna being a lot more prone to Brutal Honesty.

It's currently on a much changed version of Grand Order's France storyline and is apparently sequel to a Fate Hollow Ataraxia fanfic which I haven't bothered reading and isn't really necessary for reading it.

The multiple Servants part of Grand Order is carried over with the main character currently having four Servants with Karna being the first Servant to be summoned, as a Rider. His identity was revealed accidentally (even though it was blatantly obvious) when the author wrote his name in place of his class.

The second Servant picked up was Medea, followed by a Saber and Assassin. Saber's identity is unknown but believed by readers to be Yamata no Orochi as Grand Order allows gods as Servants, and Reynard The Fox as an Assassin.

(Grand Order doesn't necessarily allow gods as servants, Stheno, Euryale and Artemis are only summoned because they allow themselves to be summoned or, in Artemis' case, hijacked someone else's summoning. Also what is with people changing things just for the sake of changing things.)
