All-Purpose Nasuverse Fanfiction Thread

With people crossing over everything with this series, I figured that it needs a fanfiction thread. So, talk about Fate Stay Night fics, whether original or crossover.

One of the non crossover FSN fics I greatly enjoyed is Chaos Theory. Yeah, Assassin gets OMGWTFPWN'd rather anticlimactically, but other than that, I love everything about it.

A Nobody Dies version of Fate Stay Night would be, I don't know, interesting to say the least.

I'm interested. Can you elaborate?

The premise is simple. None of the Servants summoned or Masters in the Holy Grail War actually die. They just end up becoming heavily depowered but still able to protect their Masters should the need arise.

Does this fandom have enough fics to make making a thread for it worth it?

I've been reading 'Phantoms', and enjoying it quite a bit. It's the 'feel-bad' Sixth war fic of the year, and a nice companion to the oncoming downer of Zero. (Though I'm not actually familiar with 'Phantom of Inferno', so some of the finer points are probably lost on me.)

Did I mention the main character's hell-spawned nightmares? Because the hell-spawned nightmares (and the battles) are a treat to read.

For comedy, there's a fic called 'Shinderalla', which had me ROFLMAO'ing. The cast tries to stage a play of Cinderella, with Shinji as the lead, resulting in absolute madness. Highlights are Illya's hostile takeover of the script, into 'Cinder-ilya', and Kirei as the narrator.

Another recommendation is a Crossover with Guts (from Berserk) as, well, Berserker. It's done in a very unique 'big picture' format, so you get a general overview of what's going on.

edit: Found it. The name of the Berserk crossover is 'Miracle', and Guts is summoned as Assassin.

Personally, I'd rather see an All Purpose Type Moon Fanfiction Thread, since there are some VERY good Tsukihime fanfics out there, and the fandom in general manages to avert Sturgeon's Law.

For this thread, just go to the Beast's Lair Forums Fanfic subsection. Everything you could possibly talk about has a place there. Just ignore the large amounts of derailing and leave your sanity at the door. They have purpleheads and cookies.

Well, I quite liked Endless Dream.

Stock recs on Gabriel Blessing's stuff, which is apparently controversial but which I quite enjoyed. I also like From Fake Dreams; still entertaining even though it hasn't actually gotten to the Grail War yet. Some others which are in my FF.net favorites but which I'm too lazy to look up at the moment.

I have a vague and rapidly-evolving idea for an FSN/Naruto crossover in which the Servants are all characters from Naruto. Probably not going to get written, what with everything else.

Please never write that.

For even more hilarity, have all the servants be incarnations of Uzumaki Naruto yes, even Gilgamesh, and to ramp the Oh, Crap! factor up, let's make CED!Naruto the Gilgamesh of the story.

At the moment and for the foreseeable future it's just languishing as a bunch of text in my idea pile, so fear not, you don't have to bother to find it repellent in your sight. *eyeroll*

Fate Stay Night, but the servants are all various Humongous Mecha.

Berserker = Eva Unit-01

Lancer = Gundam Wing / Wing Zero

Archer = Gurren Lagann

I don't know about the others, having not gotten that far into Fate Stay Night, having not officially started the first route (Heaven's Feel) yet.

Fate is the first route. Unlimited Blade Works is the second. Heaven's Feel is the third.

At least finish playing the game before assigning roles to characters in a mecha fanfic....

To be fair, I never played the Visual Novel. I mostly go on the anime adaptations and manga.

I have no actual interest on ever playing Visual Novels, really.

@Napoleon: I know that, but Heaven's Feel is the one I ended up starting on, so it would've been more accurate to say "my" first route.

How did you get to Heaven's Feel first? To be able to reach it, you must go through Fate and UBW first. Not to mention, due to the sequential nature of the routes, the narrative somewhat assumes that you have already gone through Fate and UBW. My suggestion would be to restart and not be as nice to Sakura on Day 1, then not stop Saber on day 3, which will put you in Fate Route.

IIRC, it's mechnically impossible for anyone to play Fate Stay Night's routes out of sequence on their first playthrough. Are you playing using someone else's save file, Eva?

Well, according to the walkthrough I'm using, the sequence of choices I've made thus far point to the Heaven's Feel route. Also, I haven't gotten to Day 3 yet.

EDIT: Just checked - I'm currently at "Night of the Third Day - After school - Night of Fate". Lancer shanked me, but Rin's still deliberating about whether or not to resurrect my sorry ass.

Actually, I don't think that the character pages were ever removed, nor any of the other sub-pages - "Visual Novel" and perhaps "Anime" are the only entries that have been removed, I think. I know for sure that Funny, Awesome, Characters, and Crowning Music Of Awesome are all still there.

Trust us on this: Play the routes in sequence, otherwise a lot of things will be prematurely spoiled or won't make sense at all until you replay the game and take that route anyway.

Okay, okay, I'll go and do that, senpai.

Oh, and don't get shocked/depressed if you find yourself getting Bad Ends very often; it's perfectly normal for FSN, and the game even gives you a chance to avoid your mistakes by giving sublte hints (or, in one or two occasions, not-so-subtle, "Whoah, you had to have been doing that on purpose!" hints) as well as sending you back to the latest save-point before your screwup.
