This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking For An Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

Not too big on the current quote for The Golden Age of Comic Books, I get it's from a character who originated from the period, but I don't think it really fits a more historical page.
May I suggest this quote from Les Daniels instead?

I prefer that, the current one feels odd in claiming a legacy given the character is forgotten today.
Is this the place to bring up Quotes pages? I ask because Quotes. The Punisher MAX feels rather too long. It is some 40,000 characters and some of these quotes are themselves walls of text. I can't say it's breaking the rules, but it feels against the spirit of a Quotes page.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.Totally fine replacing the Golden Age quote with something more fitting.
Yeah, the page does seem excessive, to the point of having multiple folders.
Everybody loves the me! I’m a great athlete! The current quote on Bilingual Backfire shows both characters as bilingual, but if you watch the clip, only one of them is bilingual, which would make this not an example of Bilingual Backfire.
Judge Dredd and Armand Assante have the same quote.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadTotally fine cutting the quote for Armand, or even both.
Everybody loves the me! I’m a great athlete! Here are some alternative suggestions for Bilingual Backfire (see 3 posts above for why it needs to be replaced):
Ricardo: No, wait.
Luis: Wait? What? You don't speak Spanish.
Reporter: [in Finnish] How is… happen on… travel?
Emil: [in Swedish] Fine! You got me! Swedish!
Kayleigh: Oh, you speak the Japanese?

Those aren't bad but how about this:
Puss: No hablo inglés.
Perrito: ¡¿Hablas español?! ¡Yo también! ¡Ah! ¿De dónde eres? ¿Te gustan las siestas?
Puss: …I don't speak Spanish, either.
I'd like to change the "[[But Thou Must!]]" quote.
The current example:
But I think I found a better example.
https://youtu.be/_7uvvMbyjiM?t=140
(Yes I know the display isn't working right, but I can't figure out how to fix it)
I like that one best.
Correct format:
''VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeon''
creates
For Chimecho:
creates
Remember, no spaces and no diacritics for the link itself as the space separates the link from the displayed text; those are formatted automatically.
By the way, there is a dedicated thread for the top example, which is a quote.
Here is an example of a quote (the top example) I added in the trope Solid Clouds:
->'''Mii 1''': Look, [Mii 2]!\\ We're above the clouds!\\ The clouds are so fluffy!\\ '''Mii 2''': Yeah, so light and soft!\\ '''Mii 1''': Yay!\\ '''Mii 2''': Wahoo! -->-- ''VideoGame/{{Miitopia}}''
creates
We're above the clouds!
The clouds are so fluffy!
Mii 2: Yeah, so light and soft!
Mii 1: Yay!
Mii 2: Wahoo!
This one is a more complex multi-line quote.
If you are unsure as to how to format something, it is always a good idea to take a look at the Page Source in the More tab for examples.
That's how I learned advanced formatting on TV Tropes.
I am in favour of changing the quote.

Kirby is awesome.Eh I prefer the current quote from Final Fantasy it just sounds more elegant
This was removed and reverted from Laser-Guided Karma but looking at it more this probably fits Karmic Nod better. Doesn’t have a quote yet so throwing this in:

(x6) I like that quote but it is already on Language Fluency Denial. If we pull it from Language Fluency Denial, I think the new Language Fluency Denial quote should be this:
Puss: Uh... no. [chuckles nervously] ¿No hablo inglés?

Thanks Nen_desharu. One last question: how do I know if/when I can change the quote? Or is it for staff only? The first post of this thread doesn't exactly give any rules on this.
Shall we call the crowner?
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsSince Babe: Pig in the City doesn't have a page quote, how would this quote from the film's narrator sound?
Edited by bpants98 on May 13th 2024 at 8:14:36 AM
that for Language Fluency Denial and the Last Wish one for Bilingual Backfire.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadDisproportionate Retribution / The Simpsons has a quote with an explanation longer than the quote itself. Suggested alternative:

x5 We need to form consensus before we can change the quote for But Thou Must!.
In other words, there needs to be sufficient agreement among tropers before we can change the quote.
I am in favour of changing the quote, but there are some who prefer the Final Fantasy quote.
Kirby is awesome.I am against changing the But Thou Must! quote. The suggested replacement just dryly sums up the trope. That's what the description and the laconic is for. The current quote adds something extra as it shows how the trope may be presented in-universe. Plus it just sounds better to me.
That's good.
Well, it's already up, so I don't know if it's too late to dispute. But I actually don't think #12484 illustrates Bilingual Backfire AT ALL, which is about trying to insult another character in another language you presume they don't understand, only to find out that they do understand what you said. And I think the previous quote is much better on Language Fluency Denial than the replacement suggested in #12490.
The third option in #12483 (the Car Share one) is the clearest, I think.
Just chiming in to say I also support keeping the current quote on But Thou Must!
CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsWell if it's solely supposed to be failed attempts of Insulting from Behind the Language Barrier then someone needs to take it the Trope Repair Shop because there is a lot of misuse.
Crown Description:
What should be the page quote for Monster.Fan Works?
Both work, but I prefer the first option of the Alex Rider quotes.
