Madrugada: Where would the current trope image for Heroic BSoD fall? It's a Visual Pun, doesn't demonstrate anything about the trope, and is JAFAAC.
I've hated that pic since the moment it was first put on the page.

We're not as hard on Visual Puns as we are on JAFAAC, especially if the trope would be hard to find a straight pic for. That one was edited to make the facial expression fit what usually comes with the trope more than the original version.
I'd hate to see the image on Heroic BSoD stay anywhere on this site, but it has to be moved to a subpage. Better than having it plastered on the main page, at least. Which subpage, though? Video Games?

I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!Heroic BSoD isn't Just A Face And A Caption, despite being simply a face and a caption. I don't need to know anything about who the character is, what the circumstances of the image are, or even what work the character is from, to get how the picture illustrates the trope. (For the record, I didn't know any of those things when that page image was first chosen, and I still don't know any of them.)
^ If you want it moved, make a thread for it. Don't derail this thread into that discussion.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.But the picture doesn't illustrate the trope. It doesn't go into anything other than a character making a flabbergasted face with a literal BSOD in her eyes. There's nothing indicating the rest of the context in that pic.
I'm bringing it up as an example because it's relevant to our new rules about pic pulling.

"Illustrates the trope" means "shows it happening", not "explains it". *** "Both shows and explains" is even better, though, and such an image would probably be universally considered an improvement.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Even under that criteria, it doesn't show the trope happening. In all seriousness, please explain which part of the description that pic is demonstrating.

"The result is a form of non-consensual 10-Minute Retirement. The aftermath may cause the hero to become emotionally comatose, obsessive and guilt-ridden, mute, or in really bad cases, a jaded violent amnesiac. The most literal BSOD effect would be catatonia. ...In Real Life psychology, this is known as an acute stress reaction."
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableWe're actually defending this site's right to be funny, for once?
I'm from Piedmont. No relation with Piedmon, mind you!You just misused "Hell, Yes!" Moment. Bad!
"Just"? That was, like, three months ago.
Moon◊Who and why did someone pull the image of Sauron's eye with the one ring from the Soul Jar trope? Seriously, what the hell man?
"I don't give a rat's ass about going to hell. I guess it's because I feel like I'm already there." -MugenIt was pulled more than 2 years ago. Bring it to a thread if you think it's worth putting back.

Oh look I mispeled somethink.A particular page, or in general?
In general, I think I agree with the argument that things a getting a little too literal... after all one the charms of the site is discovering works or bits of works you haven't seen before.
Also sometimes there may not be a literal image for the trope, especially when most good shows, comics, etc. out there imply a lot more then they actually reveal.

Oh look I mispeled somethink."...things a getting a little too literal..."
This thread was started over a year and a half ago. It should maybe be un-stickied. In theory, the problem it describes has been addressed. Please elaborate.
"...sometimes there may not be a literal image for the trope..."
Page images that are merely a literal interpretation of the trope name rarely work.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. But they can, if it is a good pun. It takes human judgment for these things. It can't be a rigid rule.

Are you sure we're talking about the same thread? Everyone in the thread I was referencing was saying that the image was JAFAAC.
