Sounds like the mod for me then, since the early part of the game is my favourite. I get bored after the alien base (so I have to deliberately rush after that otherwise I get too comfy teching up).
My favorite part is the part after, when you can go toe-to-toe with the aliens.
Still waiting for that Covenant mod, though.
Artificial Intelligence is no match for Natural Stupidity.I only have the console version, but I'd double dip for a Halo total conversion.
Yeah, but Spartans would be a game breaker.
Eh, if you make the build/recruit time long enough, and the cost high enough, you could balance it out.
Simple: Spartans are just a sudden genre change to FPS (or maybe FPS/RPG hybrid which are all the rage these days)
Yeah, a Spartan against a lance or two XD That's even.
So it'd automatically launch The Bureau?
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiI was disappointed that the update didn't make more reference the the Bureau (A flawed game, but fun).
Lots of plot contrivance though for that TPS. It was waaaay too linear.
Anyway, back OT, I'm going through Enemy Within and JESUS the base defence caught me nearly with my pants down. Half my squad without their gear. Lost nearly all the mauve shirts...
Still finding my feet with meld vs mechs. I am very much a fan of the mechs though. Just not quite sure how to effectively field or outfit the gene-modded troops. I feel like a really incompetent commander when faced with them.
And that's just on Normal / Hard. Haven't got the guts to go classic yet...
May try the mod, as I feel that you accelerate to the massive weaponry quite quickly.
Mimetic skin.
Mimetic skin for everyone.
I did that for all my non-MEC units on the last mission. It made approaching the Sectopods much easier.
Standing on the edge of the crater...honestly a 40k total conversion for this game would be the most awesome thing eveer, now that we're talking about stuff like this.
Assault —> Assault Marine Heavy —> Devastator Sniper —> Scout Support —> split into Apothocary and Tactical Marine. MEC —> Dreadnought
This is a signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. You'd need to figure out how to add melee combat for that to work. Maybe steal the animation/ability from the Berserker?
An Astartes could probably smash a Berserker in close combat, now that I think about it.
Except one of the achievements require that you take the other skin mod, because it needs you to kill an enemy detected via the skin mod, but still unrevealed by sight.
Does it have to be a one-shot kill? I can imagine you'd have to do it by blind-fire rocket.
Artificial Intelligence is no match for Natural Stupidity.@Archereon: I always feel that MEC more fit as Tau Battlesuit really...
Give me cute or give me...something?Proximity Mine + grenade works as well. The +8 damage from the mine also helps.
After a bazillion years (actually just less than 1) I have finally updated my XCOM Leaks tumblr. Since I actually have Enemy Within now.

Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenI'm writing a fic in the vein of Skippy's List, both for gameplay and any imagined antics that may happen on the base. Here's some stuff I have already (written in-universe by Central):
- Kinetic Strike Modules are only available to MEC troopers. I don't know what you girls want with them, but it's not happening.
- Soldiers with Mimetic Skin are forbidden from using it while in the base.
- Rookies are no longer allowed near the alcohol, especially if they're top of the list for going on missions.
- Captive aliens are not Pokemon.
- Scientists, please stop asking the captives if the Commander 'looks like a bitch'.
- Whoever writes these operation names is fired. 'Evil Alien' and 'Vengeful Vengeance' were funny the first time, but Operation Bad Future just gives the wrong impression.
- Sniper rifles and LMGs have bipods. Use them.
Use bipods on my sniper rifles and machine guns? Heresy!

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.XCOM Leaks is focusing more on building a narrative based on filling out the nebulous 'Commander' of XCOM, and poking fun at how insane the actual organization is. I realized recently that the lens, Benji Lark the conspiracy theorist, could actually contribute a lot more. Like how exactly is he getting these leaks?
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenI thought the Council was just a stand-in for the UN?
Direct all enquiries to Jamie B GoodNope. They're sort of a shadow UN, with a very specific purview.
....Maybe.
The mod isn't all bad, there's some things they did for convenience. Like the scanning stops when one of your troops is out of sick bay. VERY handy.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117
