@DragonQuestZ: Again, it simply makes it more identifiable as this trope. It shows off a particular requirement of this trope better. Furthermore—perhaps you should ask before editing out Pros and Cons, instead of just taking it upon yourself, because as it stands, it's just you saying Nay, and I saying Yea. That doesn't mean "I win", it just means that you're taking your own word as some absolute authority.

Noting that the anime picture has non-traditional elements is important, since it moves it into the realm of Happy Holidays Dress. Being "less Santa-like" does detract from the image. I can't see why anyone would debate that.

The anime one is the wrong trope Santa Hat or no. I don't see why an image that shows the wrong trope is even in the running.

[up][up]It's not part of the definition of this trope (as in I'm also trying to avoid Square Peg Round Trope by removing false criteria). That is why it's irrelevant. Besides, it's not really making the leader any less of one.

To be honest I don't find the dress that vintage pin-up is wearing all that sexy (and therefore, not a good example). She may be cute, but her dress is not nearly revealing enough.

Yeah, I know, we need to keep this SFW tongue and I'm getting outvoted anyway. $.02

Well this just requires that it's skimpy anyway.

[up]I think that "Tight top" + "really short skirt" makes it pretty clear. Even if you don't find it sexy, you can tell that that's what they were going for.

You can tell that from the style.

@Dragon Quest Z: Hm. The trope needs renaming, then. Regardless, Santa elements contribute it towards being a sexy Christmas-themed dress, not just a sexy dress. The Santa elements help in the same way the Christmas ornaments help. What's the point in listing that the tree or lights are there if there's no point in listing the dress looks Christmas-y too?

The dress actually is called that outside here, or some variation of it.

Happy Holidays Dress is for dresses that are holiday themed including Christmas but aren't the miniskirt Santa-style of a Sexy Santa Dress. The anime dress is a Happy Holidays Dress.

Well I agree it shouldn't be on the crowner. But I'll see if others agree before taking out the whole entry.

Do a Google Image search on "Sexy Santa Dress". Include the quotes. The pictures it will return are almost uniformly:

  • red
  • very short
  • trimmed with white fur or fake fur
  • rather revealing
  • a full skirt, a Showgirl Skirt, or at least a skirt that does not appear to be painted-on tight.

Roughly half of them will also include a black belt and/or black high-heeled boots.

That's the way the term is used outside of the wiki. It is not generally assumed to mean

  • long
    or
  • slinky

Alright, the clock's up and the leader's got a commanding enough margin that I think we can safely run with it. It's up and tagged, and the rest are on the Image Links page. Locking up.
