Ugh that is hard on the eyes. We could do better with a 2-paneler with the ? on the character select screen on the top and the actual character on the bottom
Or how about
Shows that some characters are available right away and others are not.

That tells more Unlockable Character than "Secret".

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!It's still an improvement over the current pic.
That works.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! These have to be characters that no normal player will get vs say Dynasty Warriors 5 which starts out with nine and ends with 48 as you continue in the game (one of which is secret that you have to do certain things to get.) All of which show up as questionmarks or not on the list but not secret in anyway.
It just shows Unlockable Chatacter not Secret. (Smash Bros has both.)

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Before we pick a replacement I'd like to make a motion to pull the current image. Thoughts?
What is this "sleep" you speak of?I support a pull.
"I know where I am, I just don't know where I am in where I am." - MeDo agree on pull.
I personally would like to TRS this into tiers
- Starting Character (this character you get on boot up.)
- Unlockable Character (Beat level 1 now available for play.) (an image for it would be an announcement of X Is available for play.)
- Secret Character (truly hidden, New Game Plus character, hidden requirements, trick to unlock yada what it is right now.)
And the suggested Smash Bros pic would go good on Interface Spoiler.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!+1 to pull. I could go along with .
Argh. Pull. Is that Rorschach's closeup Facebook profile picture?
Any mental image for this trope?
Is Starting Character a trope? It doesn't do anything to the narrative or the gameplay. I'm all for making the other two sister tropes however.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Which game was it? One of the Capcom Vs Whatever games. Akuma was a secret character. When you selected him on the character select screen, his character profile would show up on screen, but he had no character icon to select. If I could find a screenshot of whatever game that was...

Unlockable Character is not a trope page, secret character is character you need to something to obtain. It already is unlockable character. You all are being extremely nitpicky. That up there◊ is a fine replacement.
To further prove my point the Unlockable Content page:

Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackJust go with the proposed replacement, I say.
Moon◊What about one of the screens where it congratulates you for unlocking a secret character?
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Clock's up; locking for inactivity/lack of consensus. No further action is to be taken based on this thread.
Honestly, that doesn't even look like a character, just floating grey blobs. Surely we can do better than that?
What is this "sleep" you speak of?
