Real or fictional, be as descriptive as you want. I'd say the more the better, but eh. Got a little curious after remembering some past discussions with friends that bordered on this. So, have at you guys. Go on, be the self-indulgent little tropers you know you are.

Putting why would be helpful and nice.

"...Why? I actually have always been curious about Abraham Lincoln and you."

I honestly cannot answer that. Everything about him just fascinates me and his drive, genius, greatness, and goodness are something I aspire to with all my being.

I liked Abraham Lincoln because he told dirty jokes.

Also he built his own log cabin in which he was born. That's bitchin'.

Sora because he sacrifices himself to save the people he loves. He's willing to go above and beyond to help strangers, even enemies, because he genuinely believes there's good in everyone. He taught, and continues to teach, me about the importance of friendship, trust, and loyalty.

Poison Arrow because he's willing to look past people's flaws, he's stronger than I am emotionally, and he's not afraid to give up. He gives me a lot of courage.

Lincoln's goodness? You mean like how he created the first draft in America? Or was that when he declared martial law and tried civilians in military court? Maybe it was when he suspended Habeas Corpus? Perhaps it was how he was a racist who disliked slavery for its economical implications, and not because he actually like blacks? I know, it must be when he coldly used the issue of slavery as a political tool to keep foreign powers from backing the south, after refusing to do until he had to.

I'm sorry, Dovery. I just dislike the sort of hero myth built up around Lincoln. I'll drop this now.

That was incredibly rude, death. Who are you to say who someone's idols are?

And I believe Lincoln had a change of heart during the war, thanks.

  • Teddy Roosevelt: Sure, he liked hunting bears, but that one time where he refused to because it was practically served up on a plate brought about a whole bunchy of bear-fuzzy feelings and shtuff about him and bears in general... and stuff. I don't really know how to put what I wanted to say about it.
  • Kite and BlackRose: They're willing to not only help the people they care most about, but they'll also pretty much help anyone in trouble (though that's moreso Kite than Blackrose). Also, they can kick ass.
  • Aladdin: He can pretty much survive on his own (even though Abu usually helps him out) and he tries hard to help out the poor both before and after he becomes [like] part of the royal family. Also, he can sing.
  • Belle: She can read and stand up to beasts, biznitches!
  • Luigi: He's a sensible and sensitive plumber who can do many things from braving lava to playing sports, and he still manages to be useful after all that he's been through.
  • Vector the Crocodile: He's strong, smart, and hilarious. He also helps out his friends even when they're not paying what would be his living expenses.
  • Wolf O'Donnell: Memetic Badass with the skills to back it up. He also seems to be a Jerk with a Heart of Gold.
  • Toph Bei Fong: Adorable, young, blind, she can still see your moves coming from miles away, probably better than any of the above heroes I mentioned.
  • The Manhattan Clan: Faced with a sort-of daytime disability, racism, and the destruction of almost their entire race, they still manage to be friendly and helpful protectors of the same people who either find them incredible or disgusting. They can also beat up other mythical beings and whatnot.
  • Ulala: Two-time space hero and awesome dancer. 'Nuff said.
  • Esteban: Not sure what I can say besides the fact that he can hold his own against Mendoza and the Olmecs as well as pilot a giant, golden bird-plane.
  • my best friend: Having to put up with    CAN'T SAY   ,    CAN'T SAY   , and me puts him pretty high on my heroes list.

Real Life:

  • Joseph Cambell, Carl Gustav Jung and Heinrich Zimmer: three men who brought an understanding of the fundamental meanings and aspects of mythological stories from around the globe. So, basically, they were tropers before TV Tropes existed. (And Joseph Campbell was the guy who wrote The Hero's Journey, which makes me listing him as a hero either A: very meta, or B: smart-assed and wanky.)

Fiction:

  • Spiderman: Because he does whatever a spider can.
  • Superman: Because doing good feels good.
  • Naruto Uzumaki: Odd choice, considering I'm a frequently depressed insufferable know-it-all and Naruto is a loudmouthed clueless ray of sunshine. Then again, maybe that's why I like him so much.
