You know the bearded character (don't know his name, or the actor) that shot Root?

Stick some glasses and a cap on that guy and he could be The Nostalgia Critic !

If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.

Okay, so I found the promo for tomorrow's episode.

Are they bad enough dudes to save the president?

Root is dead. And There Was Much Rejoicing (seriously, it's astounding how terribly written the character was in such a superb show).

Now, Evil Finch rises.

The hype is real

[up] Didn't get that Root is dead. Root's in the hospital. Unless this is something from episode 101...

When Finch talks to the Machine and she answers it isn't Root, the camera cuts to Root's body on a slab as Fusco looks on sadly. One scene later, Reese gets a phonecall about Root, and when Shaw asks what happened, he just sadly shakes his head.

Three previous POIs working as Heroes of Another Story was not a twist I was expecting, but one I am pretty okay with.

So we've got an eccentric millionaire tech genius, a former soldier and a career criminal. Too bad Grice was killed off, because then the team would be complete.

Cool episode! Although I have a bad feeling about the next one. I know that after Ep 100 they owned us some uplifting moments, but I can't shake the feeling that it gave us some hope to better crush it during the next 40 minutes.

Cool to see Harper & Pierce back though.

One episode remains.

So not only did he fail to kill Finch, he was wrong about the Machine not knowing the password. Greer, for all his smug self-righteousness, dies for nothing. 'Bout damn time.

I think it was a fantastic demise for Greer. On one hand, he failed to grasp the difference between Samaritan and the Machine, and that the humane personality of the Machine is the reason she is unpredictable, even by Samaritan. On the other hand, he died while fully believing in his creation and has exactly zero second thought doing so, which at least speaks about his absolute honesty. For all his manipulations and dick moves, he was a true believer and was not in it for any kind of personal reward.

I liked how the underlying theme here is exactly the same that is discussed in Mass Effect 3. EDI theorizes that the reason for the Geth rebellion and the Morning War is that the Quarians were afraid to make the Geth too much like them, and that this difference led to tragedy. The Machine and EDI actually have a lot in common, including the fear of people close to them that unshackling them would cause them to turn psycho, only to prove them wrong due to being exposed to human (or alien, for ME) decency and being allowed to reach its own conclusions.

I also start to wonder if The Great Filter is not some evil Master Plan by Samaritan but some catastrophe it see's coming. And that, together with the B-Teams for the Machine, makes me suspicious about maybe a surprise sequel series/spin-off after all.

Or maybe I'm just hoping.

[up] Looking at what's going on with the world these days, The Great Filter might or might not be caused by Samaritan. Infinite growth is impossible with finite resources, and one day something might happen. Either an evacuation or some kind of population collapse. However, with Samaritan allowed to operate, the "population collapse" would be a methodical, eugenic culling. Something it was doing on a small scale throughout the last two seasons.

I assume that the Machine simply describes the results of her analyses, and we see the mental image Finch builds with her instructions.

I have too many feelings. I thought it was great. Not perfect - there are a few plot holes I didn't care for, and I wish it could have had more buildup - but the characters were right on the money. A fitting sendoff.

And if you're curious about the music from the rooftop, it's Bunsen Burner from the Ex Machina OST.

Someone, several pages back theorized the final scene would be John getting a call from the machine...... well, that person was pretty much right..... except it wasn't John answering the call.

Seeing Finch go back to Gracie was the best part of the finale. It was brief, but it was a great final scene for Finch.
