Actually, that's not what the trope is supposed to be about at all. The description just got restricted to that, it can include a Villain Protagonist against a worse villain, but it's more accurately described as "two evil factions/characters go up against one another".

I think the Vader vs Maul pic is fine. Any other suggestions?
If I had to pick, I'd go with the guy who butchered dozens of kids. Just sayin'.
But eitherway, what said.
Plus Star Wars is one of the few works we generally agree everyone has some basic knowledge off. Most readers know who Vader is, and can infer the red lightsaber = evil even if they don't know Darth Maul by sight.

Well, if that's case, I think the description should be changed first, then the image. Otherwise the image won't match the description.

That was a caption suggestion, hence the quotemarks.
Fight smart, not fair.New development: the artist responded and says that unfortunately, the Vader vs. Aliens pic and others on his site "are private commissions and cannot be used for any commercial purposes."
Fortunately, Maul vs. Vader seems to match the trope better anyway. I'd love to see it go up once the trope repair issue is resolved, if not sooner.
I recommend finding a way to keep Pass the Popcorn as part if whichever caption we pick. That was certainly my reaction when first seeing the image.
Awww, what a shame. Oh well, Vader Vs Maul is fine too.
"We are not a stuffy encyclopedic wiki. We're a buttload more informal".I'm not big on Vader vs. Maul either. This shouldn't be a Who Would Win thing.
Rhymes with "Protracted."...I've been telling people we were not using them for profit.
Fight smart, not fair.Tecnically, depsite how stupid this sounds, that actually happens in (the comics) canon, so it would not be a case of Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny. And even if it was, I honestly have no problem with the two tropes overlapping in the picture. Is there an actual reason you would avoid it, aside for Viewers Are Morons?

"We are not a stuffy encyclopedic wiki. We're a buttload more informal".Have one here. Chaos Daemons vs Tyranids:

Whats more evil, an intergalactic swarm of alien bugs out to consume every single ounce of biomass, or Eldritch Abominations from hell itself to enslave all sentient life?
For Glorious Sociopathy! Peace Through Firepower! My Halo/ Foz crossover fic http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7082058/1/Spartan_of_ZeroNot bad; here it is at 350 px.
I can barely tell what is going on.
It looked better when it was bigger...
For Glorious Sociopathy! Peace Through Firepower! My Halo/ Foz crossover fic http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7082058/1/Spartan_of_ZeroIt's hard to argue with the over-the-top evil inherent to all things 40k, but this photo suffers from the same problems as the current one.
Yeah, unfortunately if you don't know what's going on, it just becomes a muddy mess. *sigh*
Well the prob with evil vs evil is the lack of denotational symbolism. They both have to look evil but distinct.
For Glorious Sociopathy! Peace Through Firepower! My Halo/ Foz crossover fic http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7082058/1/Spartan_of_ZeroMight as well just put a new pic up anyway; the TRS discussion is completely dead right now. Out of all the pics I've seen so far, Vader vs Maul is my favorite one, and it obviously highlights the trope quite well (well, Vader is definitely the less evil one, even though he's more powerful and probably has more Kick the Dog moments to his name). Any other suggestions?
I'm all for the Vader vs Maul, both fairly known characters and clearly evil.
For Glorious Sociopathy! Peace Through Firepower! My Halo/ Foz crossover fic http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7082058/1/Spartan_of_ZeroVader and Maul for me.
Fight smart, not fair.Still disliking Vader vs. Maul as it is non-canonical.
Rhymes with "Protracted."One or two more votes for Vader vs. Maul and we can run with it.
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
Deboss is right: the trope text clearly says that Evil Versus Evil is about pitting a villain to fight against an even worse villain (so that the lesser villain has the audience's sympathy). I have no idea who's supposed to be the worse villain, Darth Vader or Darth Maul, even though I've seen the Staw Wars movies. To someone who hasn't, the image would not mean a thing.
