You were also here to chew bubblegum, but you ran out of that.
Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.Like to second recommendation on Riddle of Steel and Valkyrie; they're both good.
Shinigan (Naruto fanfic)I've been mulling a fusion fic idea around in my head that was initially based on a dumb pun and a Gelbooru picture; Zeon Genesis Evangelion. Would anyone be interested in seeing that?

These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.Dumb ideas are the best ideas, I started an novel length epic based on a pun just like that.
One of my major WIPs was originally based on a mispunctuation. Someone wrote "Sorcerers Apprentice" in the sense of a single apprentice to a sorcerer. This spawned visions in my head of a title "sorcerer apprentice" pluralized as "sorcerers apprentice", and then somehow turned into a big urban-fantasy epic.

Shinigan (Naruto fanfic)The Gelbooru pic being...?
That is quite the funny oxymoronic expression there.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3470043/1/Evangelion_Genocide_Extended
This needs more love. I hardly see it mentioned anywhere.
Okay, remind me who she is cosplaying as, because my Gundam-series knowledge is restricted to the Gundam Wing TV series' locally dubbed version, online-acquired info on the Gundam Wing Endless Waltz movie and related "expanded universe" material, similarly patchy info on the Gundam SEED and Gundam 00 series, and very patchy info on anything else.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Got a 'no hotlinking' message on that.
What's precedent ever done for us?Worked for me after taking the redundant slash out of the URL after the hostname.
Shinigan (Naruto fanfic)@Marq: She's cosplaying as Char Aznable, the Red Comet. Unsurprisingly enough.
What's precedent ever done for us?Pretty surprising to me. Personality-wise the only thing they have in common is arrogance; Char's an introverted, slightly poetic user of people who's aware he's a terrible person but thinks it's all right as long as he keeps to his own moral code and protects the innocent from even-worse people. Asuka's terribly insecure and self-loathing and lashes out at people to make up for it, while craving affection and approval. Red paint jobs and talent are not enough of a link for me, unless he's mentoring her, which could be a very interesting fic.
A True Lady's Quest - A Jojo is You!I think the point is that what Char Aznable is - a famous and widely respected Ace Pilot - is what Asuka wants to be.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. You have to admit that if there's any fictional character Asuka would idolise, it's Char.
What's precedent ever done for us?@image-Mmmmmm...legs.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. Now you're just making me wonder about... bad things. If Asuka knew Char, would she transfer her admiring crush from Kaji to him? And would Char, having a history of hooking up with underage girls, encourage that?
More important question, is she a Newtype? Then Char would *definitely* be into her.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.Guys? I dunno if you can count doujinshi in this thread, but... RE-TAKE. I am not a fan of Asuka/Shinji (AT ALL) but... this doujin... it's just outstanding.
It isn't even the sex, it's how he actually goes back and tries to interact with Asuka more because he knows what happens. He cares enough to try and save her. After all she put him through in the series proper he tries to save her. I found myself crying for the first time in ages after reading this.
In fact, I might even be a bit into Asuka/Shinji now. CRAP!

RE-TAKE is surprisingly good.
Just curious - has anyone tried to read The Tenant of Room 404?

Not recognizing the crossover basis, much less having seen/read it, I have not.
Nous restons ici.Ideas that's coming to mind is either a crossover with The Centurions or one that's centered on Tactical Operations.
Well someone can pick either one up I guess.
<barely manages to stop howling with laughter long enough to post this>
God Within. Crack Fic set in the final stages of End of Evangelion (with a couple of divergences noted in the preface), where functionally-insane Shinji saves the day, Asuka's attempts to give him a spine have gone horribly right (well, the "horribly" part is arguable when you look at it from ''her' POV), and the epilogue involves quick glimpses of two different-generation descendants of the aforementioned characters.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I really hope that's just a parody...
My name is Chuck, and I'm here to... pimp fanfics.
NGE: Valkyrie, an Eva/Marvel fusion with Rebuild elements.
NGE: Shadow of the Bat, in which Asuka is raised by Bruce Wayne.
Follow Your Spirit, a Toji/Hikari/Kensuke Peggy Sue. I hate Peggy Sues, which is why I decided to write one.
The Riddle of Steel has already been recc'd. It's a satire of all the "Shinji does/finds/is raised by X and becomes an effortless badass" fics, with lots of gratuitous violence and fanservice.
Those are all ongoing, there's also Last Child of Krypton, which is completed, Orpheus, a one-shot exercise in what I call "dark waff" or "daff", and the short four-part Samsara.
I have several favorites but among them the ones I recommend most highly are:
Soul's Light which is in the crossover section and gets nowhere near enough attention, NGE: The Great Beast, which is best described as Evangelion in the style of Illuminatus!, and The Debate, which is probably the single greatest piece of fanfiction I have ever read. I also have to strenuously recommend Fear, even though it's already on the rec page. It's probably the only fan fiction I've ever read that actually made me weep.
