A Game of Gods: Taskforce Sifuri

Go To

Long ago, an ancient superweapon, capable of shaping worlds, changing the laws of physics, and even influencing life and death, was lost. It was another casualty of a world-shattering war, that saw the deployment of indescribable horrors and carnage on a galactic scale. Its name was Sifuri, and, as the ashes settled on the remains of cities and combatants, it was decided that some things were best forgotten, and Sifuri faded from memory as its creators set about rebuilding and reconstuituting all that had turned to ashes. For billions of years, Sifuri lay abandoned and alone on a distant world, safely out of the ands of its creators and never to be used again.

But now, things are beginning to change. The embers of war are begining to stir. A powerful force looms on the horizon, and Sifuri may be all that stands between it and the destruction of its creators. Two criminals, seeking to atone for their misdeeds, assemble two competing teams- one based around the supernatural, the the other around the scientific- to recover the artefact. It will be a long and perilous quest across the multiverse to recover Sifuri... but will the forces of magic or science prevail?

Hello once more, and welcome to the signup thread for A Game Of Gods: Taskforce Sifuri. Now, the first thing that you're probably wondering is why exactly we need another spinoff. The answer is that this was initially going to be a plot in the current Infinities game, but due to my worry that the mini-epic would would take too long, I decided to spin it off into its own game. That said, this game is extremely close to Infinities, moreso than TOTG was to the original AGOG. Because of that, there will be several crossovers between the two. Besides that, all the same rules in AGOG, and general RPing etiquette should apply.

Signups

Naturally, the biggest 'gimmick', so to speak, of this RP is the fact that characters who have science-based powers are pitted against those who have magic based powers. I'm really hoping for even teams for this, so if we have too many people on one side than some people may be given control of a second character for the opposite team. Characters who use both magic and science, such as Magitek, will be admitted on a case-by-case basis.

  • Name: (self-explanatory)
  • Universe: (series they come from)
  • Background: (brief bio of their past, motivations, etc.)
  • Powers: (What they can do- keep it between 1-3 on the Super Weight scale)
  • Personality: (Also self-explanatory).

The game itself may not open for a while, so don't hold your breath. This is a way of seeing how may people want to sign up.

On a side note, you can take two characters in Sifuri. One for Science and one for Magic.

i'm kidding lior

maybe i'll discuss this with friends??? i know someone who tried to get involved here but was 2slow

like i sort of want to play mireille, but the problem is i'm worried that that little novelty with mother-daughter time warp stuff would wear off and i'd be left with a rather intelligent but still four-year old child who shoots data magic

so i'll probably use someone else, but put mirei for consideration

I'm gonna say the biggest problem with that sentence is "four year old". Our youngest character is 12 and even then she has a looooooad of stuff to compensate for that, namely the ability to control the ground you're standing on.

Choose someone from Smash Brawl.

because, you know

they trip a lot

@Strat: Well, aside that Mirelle is already out of the picture, she's a child genius and would basically be Mistral with a different, more powerful set of spells. She is Mistral's daughter playing Mistral on the new version of The World. She is very similiar to her mother but has quirks of her own like an obsession with rare items Mistral only has a normal interest in. The character avatar would have had a few years of getting more experience and adjusting to the new version of The World.

  • Name: Dr. Mordin Solus
  • Universe: Mass Effect
  • Background: Salarian Scientist. Brilliant geneticist. Born approximately thirty years ago. Salarian lifespan short, forty years. In modern human terms, age equivalent to sixty years for a human. Former member of Salarian Special Tactics Group, STG. Worked on upgrading Krogan Genophage. Retired, ran clinic on Omega. Cured plague designed to target all species but human and vorcha. Assisted Commander Shepard in crusade against collectors. Survived suicide mission, retired. Made special consultant for STG, studying former student Maelon's work. Leaked information to Krogan leader, Urdnot Wrex. Formulated cure for Genophage, killed dispersing it.
  • Powers:
    • Brilliant Geneticist: Genetics subject of Ph D. Is able to combat viral infestations, neurotoxins, with limited resources and equipment.
    • Doctor: Considerable medical expertise.
    • Combat Skills: Former STG. Capable fighter. Melee capable, although unwise. Salarian biology unsuited for major damage associated with melee combat. Considerable skill with firearms, specifically pistols and submachine guns.
    • Omnitool: Multipurpose diagnostic and manufacturing tool. Appears as orange hologram. Capable of manufacturing small objects from reusable industrial plastics and ceramics. Useful in repair and modification of equipment. Also used for communications, recording, dispensing medigel, playing video games and as a flashlight. Combat applications include:
      • Incinerate: High-explosive plasma round, manufactured and fired by Omnitool. Lights target on fire. Capable of affecting nearby enemies.
      • Cryo Blast: Supercooled mass of subatomic particles. Fired by Omnitool. Flash-freezes target. Capable of affecting nearby enemies. Frozen target fragile, however thaws quickly.
      • Neural Shock: Electricity fired at target. Debilitating pain caused by neural overload. Capable of affecting nearby enemies.
      • Omniblade: Thin silicon-carbide blade, flash-forged by Omintool. Warning lights surround blade, creating orange appearance. Sharp, but brittle.
  • Personality: In a word, consequenstialistic. Ends justify means, however unreasonable means, unacceptable. When means... morally ambiguous, end result must be considered. Good example in Krogan Genophage. On other hand, wishes to help people. Whether curing disease or executing mercenaries, result same. Lives saved. Cause of moral indecision on Krogan Genophage: lives saved from Second Krogan rebellions, suffering and death caused to Krogan people. More personally, many interesting traits. Musically inclined. Asexual, Salarians having limited sex drive. Generally affable, very few sources of anger. Thought of as hyperactive, comparison made to caffeine-addled rodent commonly kept as pet by humans.
  • Team: Science.

Mordin looks fine to me. Barring an objection from one of the other GMs, accepted.

Though obviously he won't be able to make anything too crazy with his Omnitool.

  • Name: Sir Hawkeye Gough.
  • Appearance: For reference, he's around 25 to 30 feet tall.
  • Universe: Dark Souls.
  • Background: One of a race of stone giants originally used by the gods as a source of labor, Gough distinguished himself with his skill wielding a bow and arrow. He was part of the army of the Lord Gwyn, becoming the leader of their archers and one of Gwyn's four great knights in their war against the dragons. He continued his service despite being blinded when his helmet was filled with burning resin by those who dismissed him as nothing more than a brute. He later retired after the dragons were all but wiped out, spending his time seeking enlightenment.
  • Powers: His skill with a bow is legendary, firing gigantic stone-tipped arrows over incredible distances, with enough force to knock a flying dragon out of the sky. Due to his blindness, his aim is dependent on his hearing. Like all giants, he naturally possesses enormous size and strength. He can also carve wood and stone expertly, with a hobby for making talking carvings.
  • Personality: Patient, calm, thoughtful and reflective. Despite his profession he dislikes unnecessary violence, and treats most people with care and kindness. He is always polite and honorable, if slightly world-weary.
  • Team: Magic.

I have no idea. All I know is that a villain named Dio from a thing called Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is in Eclipse. I have never taken in said media.
