I normally don't pay usage count much mind, but that's pretty meh. Yeah, supporting rename.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyAgree.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Crowner is hooked and I completely agree that a rename is needed.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I was thinking of the old apple-tree saying, too, and I've never heard of this trope despite it being a common one, so...yeah.
Something like...Long Fall(ing) Boot? Or Drop Scare?

Like that one. Also suggest Long Way Down, Long Way To The Bottom, Dropping Object Scare
"You want to see how a human dies? At ramming speed." - Emily Wong. It's not a scare, though. It's a demonstration.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I like Falco's Long Way Down. A Long Drop might also work.
"In the land of the insecure, the one-balled man is king." - HavenA 24:1 ratio supporting rename looks like consensus to me, so I made a title crowner.
"In the land of the insecure, the one-balled man is king." - HavenNew crowner hooked.
So, this is not just when there's a long fall, it's a very specific visual trick to Show, Don't Tell how long a fall it is.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Pretty much. It's when something falls or is dropped and the time until it hits the bottom indicates a long drop.
I don't know that the name necessarily needs to mention that, though, considering that "a long fall" is Not A Trope so there shouldn't be any confusion.

"In the land of the insecure, the one-balled man is king." - HavenActually, a sufficiently long fall is indeed a trope. Wouldn't be surprised if a name like Long Way Down were confused for it.

Rhymes with "Protracted."Well, I stand corrected. My apologies.
"In the land of the insecure, the one-balled man is king." - HavenI've seen this trope a few times, but I never clicked on it because I thought it was a trope about children who are very unlike their parents. Huh.
I just can't come up with any good names for this scenario! Arrg!
Since this is a trope about a camera shot, maybe the name should reflect that. Something like Long Fall Shot? Long Drop Shot?

Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. Not a bad idea. Add them to the crowner if you'd like.
"In the land of the insecure, the one-balled man is king." - HavenOn reflection, Long Drop Shot makes me think of tennis or basketball.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Yeah, I still prefer Long Way Down myself, but if we're going to go with a camera name it should be Long Fall Shot and not Long Drop Shot.
"In the land of the insecure, the one-balled man is king." - HavenHow about Plummet Perspective? it carries both concepts of the trope - the fall and the view of the fall - and has an alliterative bonus.
That works. It doesn't say it's a camera shot, but it implies it pretty strongly.
Long Way Down seems way too broad and vague to me.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. Also has Added Aliterative Appeal
Go play Kentucky Route Zero. Now.I like Plummet Persepective.

Crown Description:
The trope is about something dropping and indicating a long fall. For me at least, the title conjures up the idiom 'the apple doesn't fall far from the tree,' which has nothing to do with this. The discussion page shows that I'm clearly not the only one with this association. So...rename? Crowner's here. If we rename it, I suggest something involving how it's "a long drop." Perhaps a pun?
