Caught clothing would be a good trope.
This however would probably be better as "Impractical and Rule of Cool clothing" cause issues.
The name No Capes really sounds like Super Heroes who dont wear capes.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I really don't think tropes should be named for playing with the trope (in this case Defied Trope) or based on the Fridge Logic a trope brings up.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Agree. It sounds like a variant of Not Wearing Spandex or something.
Fight smart, not fair.Yeah, this needs changing.
I like Cape Snag for some reason.
Fight smart, not fair.Superheroes Wear Capes already appears to be about half this trope as it is - I'm not sure if this trope is necessary at all. Certainly, it's an awful, awful title, seemingly based upon a randomly selected line from a relevant quote. Peculiar.
No, this would be a Sub-Trope of that, if it wasn't strictly about superheroes and villains anyway.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Superheroes Wear Capes is about half this trope because 1) people are lazy and put their examples in whatever they first come arcross that sort of fits, and 2) people think that Tropes are Bad, but Playing With A Trope Is Good, and therefore put their examples anywhere that they can say "subverted/]averted]/inverted in <My Favorite Show>" even if it isn't.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Cape Malfunction? (Costume Malfunction?)

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.There is now a single proposition rename crowner for this trope here.
I think that the no capes name is not that great of one considering that the trope is actually about people witnessing the negative consequences of using capes.
"irhgT nm0w tehre might b ea lotof th1nmgs i dont udarstannd, ubt oim ujst goinjg to keepfollowing this pazth i belieove iN !!!!!1 dWait, so the "No Capes" trope involves people wearing capes?
Yeah, upvoting the rename.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyThe name fits because, as the FIRST EXAMPLE states, it was named after Edna's mini verbal rampage regarding the follies of wearing capes. Perhaps an exclamation point needs to be added to the title?
But then you're naming the trope after a line of dialogue. And Thats Bad.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.^^And that makes it a good name because...
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyPlus it's naming it after her defying the trope, not the problem that made her have that policy.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Plus, it's not named after her (not that she's a particularly well-known character in the first place), but after something she said that makes no sense out of context. Nor is it a particularly memorable quote — I've seen the movie, and can't confirm whether or not she said it even after being assured that she does.
Basically, rather than "the name fits because it was named after X", what we have here is the all too common case of, "the name doesn't fit because it was considered more important to name it after X than to choose a name that might actually fit."
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Aside from the above - can we replace the generic "evil overlord" page quote by the text from The Incredibles? It's much more suitable.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!The scene:
—> Edna: No capes!
Bob: Isn't that my decision?
Edna: Do you remember Thunderhead? Tall, storm powers? Nice man, good with kids....
Bob: Listen, E...
Edna: November 15th of '58! All was well, another day saved, when... his cape snagged on a missile fin!
Bob: Thunderhead was not the brightest bulb...
Edna: Stratogale! April 23rd, '57! Cape caught in a jet turbine!
Bob: E, you can't generalize about these things...
Edna: Metaman, express elevator! Dynaguy, snagged on takeoff! Splashdown, sucked into a vortex!
Edna: No capes!!
Re-reading through the page, I've changed my mind and decided a rename IS in order, as the trope seems more about the negative consequences of wearing a cape as opposed to deconstructive reasons for not donning one in the first place like the name implies.
Also feels a bit like a sub-trope, but mweh...
Given the support for a rename, there is now an alternative titles crowner for this trope here. Feel free to add names as you see fit.

Crown Description:
Previous crowner showed consensus support for a rename.
Too narrow and a title that doesn't describe the trope. This is about capes that get caught on things, not an aversion to wearing capes.
And for that, why just capes? Why not expand to Clothing Snags? If we already have a trope for that this should be in the sub category for it.
