I was looking through images the other day and found this:

I figured that this might work better than the current image of Dissonant Serenity. Yeah, we had this discussion again, but the image seems befitting a bit more this time. So, what do you think?

It's good, but I don't necessarily think it's better than the current one.

That looks like someone in love with killing. Do we have that?

>.> I misread the outside of this thing and went and found a picture to propose so know I feel stupid.

Here is the pic.

[up] He doesn't appear calm, he appears to be thinking. That was a problem I remember us having during the last IP—that most of the examples were not calm, they were simply not screaming in horror as you'd expect.

The reason I support my proposal is that it shows both dissonance and serenity fairly well. She's smiling, not in Slasher Smile way, when blood is splattering right in front of her and some on her face.

This is more of a personal reason but I think that it looks much more aesthetically pleasing (again, I know it's subjective), although it is a bit dark. Generally, I believe that my proposal is more demonstrative than the current one. That's my opinion.

I don't see anything wrong with the current image. He looks pretty calm to me.

Nothing wrong; just the proposal looks better. Granted, I like blood.

d Roy's proposal strikes me more as a Psychotic Smirk than Dissonant Serenity. So, I prefer the current one over it.

That said, I don't think it'd hurt to hunt for further alternatives.

It looks kind of strange to me. I'm not sure of the word—muddled? Busy? But it took me a bit to see what's going on but I might be dumb.

[up] I agree, it seems almost... out of focus.

The current one also wins brownie points for being amusing. This one is just kind of... creepy, I guess...

[up] Can't be sure about out of focus thing, but isn't the point of this trope be creepy for the most of the time? Humorous usage of this is the rarer ones.

Meh. I like proposing images. How about Sephiroth's Burning of Nibelheim scene? I think it's listed as an example.

It's okay. Not sure if we want to duplicate part of the one up on Draco in Leather Pants (or whatever the hell that page was).

None of the proposals so far seem clearer than the current image. A background of fire is nonspecific. With the current image we have an obvious disconnect between a situation and the character's expression.

I'm actually fine with the Fry image. I didn't even know tyat we had that image already for the DILP page.

I have two further alternatives to propose.

First off, this from Haruhi Suzumiya.
Also, this from Inception.

I'm really surprised that no one has suggested the death of Cutler Beckett from POTC:AWE.

These are screencaps from a youtube video. Someone who can do a cap directly from the movie can probably get better quality.
