Fight Club Decay and Teenagers (Spoilers regarding Fight Club?)

At one point in my story, these kids start their own fight club as a way to toughen up nerds, dweebs and other socially awkward folk into beating their bullies/ manning the fuck up/ encouraging them to deal with their troubles, however big or small, while adhering to the Chuck Palahniuk model.

Females welcome.

Of course, it can't stay peachy all the time, now can it? Any suggestions as to how the members might ruin this fight club?

I was thinking of the following:

• Members and participants will take fights personally, forcing the founding members to make arbitrary rules and protocol for each fight, to the point where participating in fight club becomes a chore.
• As an allusion to Project Mayhem, members will start to bully random students to turn them into warriors and men. This too, decays, and becomes the problem this fight club was meant to fix.

Any suggestions?

Why not have the cops show up. Nobody expects adults to actually be useful in a story focusing on teenagers.

I didn't finish the rest of the movie but you could have the Fight Club delve into a street gang or something. I mean most gangs in real life start as something innocent as this but then money comes in, drungs and violence comes into the mix and thiungs go horribly wrong. How about you have a character come up with a twisted plan that involves the death of hundreds of people.

A handful of trained servicemen versus a legion of angry brats... I like! I wonder how to implement this without it hijacking most of the narrative (deconstruction tends to do that depending on the circumstance).

Would they do this with the illusion/ crazy idea that they're doing something right? Or do they genuinely want to fuck something up?

Perhaps the club just makes the problem worse? The nerds succeed in getting back at one of the bullies, but then a bunch of other bullies gang up, ambush one of the fight club members, and severly beat him up/humiliate him. Or perhaps one of the members overreach because he feels all powerful, and ends up having his arse kicked and his dreams shattered. Everyone becomes disillusioned about the entire thing, and there's drama as the leaders try to keep things together.

Yeah, that's pretty much what happens in the movie. The club ends up being a mix of a cult and revolutionary terrorist organization.

Now that sounds good. Though I wonder how I can play it for comedy as well as drama?

I think the leader who (inadvertently) started the whole thing would have to watch his back at all times/ eventually have to fight off his entire legion at once.

You could always make them do ridiculous exercises to increase their strength. Like trying to balance an egg on a teaspoon held in their mouths whilst they clamper up a rope in the gym hall. Or make the leader present them with a puppy, and have a meditative session about how they're gonna be just like the puppy... cute, but frightened of their own shadow and with a tendency to pee on the carpet... unless they man up and grow into the bulldog they have inside.

If you wanna go for comedy you can also have the first fights be absolutely horrible. Think Howard and Rajesh from the Big Bang Theory, trying to wrestle each other and ending up circling each other for hours yelling threats without ever actually touching each other. Or the fat boy who flips over his opponent, sitting on him and asking if he can have his doritos back now (which the leader took to encourage him). Have someone get their sleeve stuck in their opponent's braces. Make the busty girl terrorize the little nerd in a fight - she frightens him so much that for the first time ever he actually gets to the top of the rope in gym class... when he hears his mates whoop at him, he realizes his success, and promptly falls to the floor and ends up unconscious.

Really, if you wanna play at it for comedy, only the sky's the limit

This is only part of a massive series I have planned. I once had a mega thread dedicated to it, but that was purged due to the "2 month life span" rule (which I wasn't aware of at the time >:/)
