It's the same difference between a Joke and a Running Gag.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dickits a character archetype that applies to with one character/multiple love interests ie. the man is consistently chased by women who fall for him but he doesn't get it. Oblivious to love is more of a one-on-one example.
"You want to see how a human dies? At ramming speed." - Emily Wong.Eh? Well when you put it that way then I agree it's a trope, but then the description needs a massive rewrite and the examples need to be cleaned. The name was pretty much the only indication in that direction.
I agree that more than a few of the examples are in the wrong trope.
But I might be wrong as to my definition, wait for a few more people to chime in.
"You want to see how a human dies? At ramming speed." - Emily Wong.To me it seems more similar to Chaste Hero. It says the difference is that the Chaste Hero is just too young, dumb, or asexual to be interested; even then, "dumb" doesn't seem to fit; but isn't disinterest in (or at least avoidance of) romance supposed to be for the Celibate Hero?
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartMost examples are not Oblivious to Love they are just Oblivious to Love directed at them.
They see others romantic involvement. However any feeling directed at them its over their head most have to be outright told that the girls are targeting him. Its not an Unwanted Harem its an Oblivious Harem. Also "Hero" is not required in any way.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!If only these definitions were clear on the page. >.>
Also Oblivious to Love isn't about just being ignorant of love in general. The description and most of the examples have the love being clearly directed and the person just not noticing it.
The other reason its different to oblivious to love is that well...girls can fall for the clueless chick magnet without falling in love with him.
"You want to see how a human dies? At ramming speed." - Emily Wong.We left the previous TRS up for months looking for a good description. What's up now is the best anyone came up with. And yes, I know it sucks, because I'm the one who wrote it. If you have something better, post a rough draft here.
Well first we need to make absolutely positively definitely sure of what the definition is supposed to be. Even the explanations in this thread feel all over the place.
Laconic: The Chick Magnet who doesn't realize he's a Chick Magnet.
There you go. A few of the examples on this page don't fit, since it was originally launched under a different definition, but I don't know the works well enough to fix them. The wicks, however, use the Laconic.
Yeah the Negima example needs to go Setsuna is not this, Negi however is a completely other story although he's example is so complex with at least 16 girls now in the manga and 31 girls in the first anime series and Negima Second Season. And Kotaro has now 4 girls.
I will write it up better as an example on the page tomorrow when I wake up.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Laconics are usually horrible to go by.
This is one of the first Laconics I fixed Sal, because I couldn't come up with a good description. It's accurate.
Er, being attracted to someone without being in love with them. I thought it was clear statement.
"You want to see how a human dies? At ramming speed." - Emily Wong.Bumping because this page's creator put it on the cutlist. Is it a distinct trope or isn't it?

Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text-Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffIt is. And the creator agreed with that during the previous thread. I don't know why he'd cutlist it.
We already went over a lot of this in the previous thread, so apologies for being terse.
It's OK. I delisted it.
Didn't see the last thread, sorry.
Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text-Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffThere was a request to clock or lock. I chose clock, if nothing happens, it's outa here.
Wait, you mean the thread or the trope? The trope was already declared valid in the old thread.
The thread, obviously. I've never heard of the mods using the "clock or lock" tool in any other context.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. So, is it safe to lock?
I have no idea how this is any different from Oblivious to Love other than it seems to only apply to men, for some reason. The title itself even sounds like Oblivious to Love- except with a bunch of people. The examples have both people who are oblivious to one crush and people who are oblivious to several. Also: 'deliberately designed to be Estrogen Brigade Bait' huhhhhhhhhh?
Unless there's a good argument we should keep this and it's distinct enough from Oblivious to Love, I say we cut it.
