What are your reactions? Thoughts? What do you hope will be in the sequel?

On the one hand, it looks pretty good.

On the other hand, I can never go back to Animal Crossing in the knowledge that I'm eventually going to wind up abandoning my town and leaving it a sad, desolate wasteland.

Part of the reason I bought the 3DS. Don't judge me!

[up][up][up] True. tongue My Animal Crossing for the GC is probably weed-infested and miserable. However, I played that version for several years. Wild World only lasted about a year, maybe.

Hopefully this game will ignite the child-like awe I had of the first game.

One thing that bugged me about Wild World (haven't played any of the others) is how it randomly generates the town. If I'm going to be playing for a long time, I was the layout to be good - bridges in appropriate places, shops and whatnot in logical spots. Usually the layout is pretty bad, so I would keep restarting the game in order to generate the ideal town.

A "design-a-town" mode would be welcome, or something else that makes getting the ideal town layout less annoying.

Looks even better than the Wii game. I'm impressed, though I still don't get why Nintendo's higher tech games tend to have everything be so shiny. TP worked well enough without that sheen.

I love Animal Crossing. So much. I only ever owned City Folk, and I always seem to play it in Winter. All these years I go back into it and its always in winter xD

If I had the 3DS version I'd play a lot more often, since I'd be able to take it anywhere you know? Of course I'd need a 3DS but still :P

And you can fucking swim. This is Animal Crossing life-changing. That's enough to warrant a buy. (joke, of course)

I keep wondering if the swimming thing will have any function. Like being able to swim to an island or something. Or you can be like Gulliver and end up washed ashore in some random town. [lol]

Yay, swimming and wall furniture!

Wait a moment...

Was that an escort mission at the end there?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Anyway, I've always hoped for an option that would let you take a rowboat out to sea; that way you don't have to have all the fish swimming near the beach since it doesn't really make sense.

But I'm probably not going to get a 3DS so this is moot for me anyway.

[up][up] Yeah I'm not sure if that's an escort mission. Someone speculated it was tag but I'm not inclined to believe them.

Even if it was an escort mission, the AC series lacks a lot of the things that make such missions annoying. There's nothing trying to kill NP Cs, for one. It also looked like that NPC(?) was auto-following the player character like an RPG party member so I don't think they'd actually have a chance to display Artificial Stupidity.

Think of it as a Fetch Quest except you don't get to put the MacGuffin in your pocket.

Wild World had Katie and Kaitlyn, which worked the same way, so it's not that odd.

The swimming is a big sell for me. Seriously.
