I beat Assassin's Creed 1 an hour ago.
The game is alright and fun, it's just repetitive when you have to cycle through the same 5 or 6 sidequests to advance to the main assassination. Sometimes the controls didn't do what I intended to do in combat which as gotten me killed a few times. Hidden Blade counter chains are fun when you get into the rhythm though. I never perfected the art, but I have killed 4-5 guys in a row without missing the timing on the counter. I also like that you can just run up and kill the bosses with a shove and then Hidden Blade them. Even with the Final Boss I just Hidden Blade countered him on instinct and beat the game.
AC Syndicate review by Tauriq Moosa
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Syndicate is..... really really good.
So far I'm enjoying the flow of the missions and the open world a LOT more than Unity. The Collectibles are fun, the characters are fun, the setting is just... fun.
Only had a couple of glitches and not game breaking. SEE UBISOFT! THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T SHOVE COMPANION APPS DOWN MY THROAT.
Only thing that bugs me is the inventory and "shops" - I enjoyed the idea that weapons etc were bought in the world, not a menu. Plus only one melee weapon equipped at a time makes sort of sense.
Do love the combat though. Just trying to get my perks filled and find all the secrets. Chests I may leave and some of the activites I can't 100% (Stealth kill a templar in smoke doesn't seem to register for some reason)
I think I may be able to crack it before F4 comes out too... already nearly freed the city, and still only in Sequence 4!
The whole Syndicate OST.

Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Cosplay references for the Victorian DLC
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.I'm psyched for that image of Senso-ji and what it portends.
Swordplay and writing blog. Purveyor of weeaboo fightin' magic.I'm so conflicted on Syndicate. It doesn't really do anything particularly bad to me, but I just find myself bored when it comes to story. I like The Frye Twins, but I don't feel compelled with all going on with them and I'm indifferent to the Templars. Plus whole lack of philosophical side or so on, this game just feels more... episodic to me. A good episode, but not strong from a serial sense, which is what I'm finding I miss from Desmond days.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.It was basically a VERY safe game after Unity really collapsed on itself.
I actually think Syndicate is interesting in parts and it has some good ideas but the story themselves doesn't pursue it.
Like the Templars in the game are legitimately respectable as a threat and it actually deals with Assassination in a kind of realistic context, showing that in a modern context, attacking someone powerful would only end up hurting people and society because of who is involved with that powerful person and what it depends on. It shows why the Templars are so scary and powerful in the modern time and I genuinely liked the Starrick, Attaway and Roth...as characters mind you, not because I agree with their views. It's the first time you can see the Templars having Evil Virtues.
Then wasting Karl Marx in a set of side missions...man what happened to you Ubisoft, you used to be cool. You made Blackbeard into a good guy, you made Machiavelli into someone we can hang out with, you made us punch the Pope in the Vatican, made Washington into an Evil Overlord and have us beat him up...and now this? To quote Joker in The Dark Knight, "What happened did your b—-s drop off, hmmm?"
I also hate the Ropelauncher and the Horseless Carriages with Engines shaped like horses for some reason.
Stupid question but does anybody think that Ubisoft will ever do a main game set in China during the second Japanese-Sino War where you play as a Japanese defector?
Place your past in a book burn the pages let them cook.No.
Because even if they go to the time period, that is incredibly specific, and any number of other story options may be explored instead.

Some other highlights:
- No, Evie's not an ancestor of Monima Das.
- Jacob's canonically bi and the whole sequence with Roth was supposed to be Jacob's love interest sequence.
- The Lantern of St. Denis showing up in Sequence 2 was just an Easter Egg.
- Lucy Thorne's lip scar was placed because they thought it looked cool.
- The 10 year old Sage being Desmond's possible son is... inconclusive ATM. (So chances are pretty high.)

Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. The real highlight is: "Ubisoft will always privilege gameplay over story continuity" and that the writer dislikes Lore.
So basically, nothing is true and everything is permitted...canon is for losers and its Emotional Torque from here onwards. Ignore transmedia and anything else.
Jacob is bisexual??? And we're supposed to know that because Roth flirted and kissed him???
Jacob was an unwilling and passive party to all of that. Its hard to note his lack of interest as 'Not interested because youre a sociopath' when 'Dude i'm straight' is an equally acceptable answer. If they wanted to show him as bisexual, he needed to take an active role at somepoint.
There is some flirtation between Jacob and Freddy Abberline, but I thought that Jacob had a crush on Pearl Attaway.
The weirdest part is that Yohalem says that it's deliberate that Jacob doesn't have a love interest in the game. Well Connor didn't have a love interest in AC 3, but no one's saying he's gay!!!
Seriously if Jacob is supposedly gay or bisexual it should be put forward in the game itself.
And, isn't the WW 2 protagonist (can't remember her name) his granddaughter??? I'd say she'd just be an adopted kid but she looks the spitting image of the twins too so it seems more logical to say they're biologically related.
Maybe the DLC will play with it but it seems like it's Word of Gay in full effect. And the 'he deliberately didn't have a love interest' strikes me as... unfortunate. So, gay men didn't have relationships at all in the Victorian Era? As someone who's actually studied this stuff, I can assure that people had their ways of circumventing society.
I certainly feel like Jacob had more of a flirtatious relationship and chemistry with Pearl than Roth.
I'm not exactly objecting to the idea of Jacob being bisexual, but that certainly wasn't really conveyed. He flirts with a lot of people, but that fit his sly, fast-talker, and suave personality more than 'This character is bisexual'.

The weird thing is that Connor didn't have a love interest in AC-3 either, but nobody thinks Connor is gay for Charles Lee...or do they?
Actually now that I think of it, AC-3 was a pretty homoerotic game...Connor is a lumberjack frontiersman, frequently barechested and he sails a boat...man it was under our noses the whole time.
I am joking of course.
There's also the part where Desmond is explicitly descended from Conner. Which, granted, doesn't actually say anything about Conner's sexuality; but given the Assassin culture, I think its safe to say he wouldn't "lie back and think of America."

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyI don't remember Connor being barechested all that often. I remember him monologing while it showed him shaving his head in the bath, but that was a dramatic scene and not an erotic one. And Ezio ACTUALLY had an erotic bath scene. I think he had two if I remember correctly.
Theoretically, Connor could be bisexual and he just ended up with a woman and had a kid, but the point of representation would be mute since we don't see him with either.
This is where things get odd for bisexual or pansexual representations. We can say a character is bisexual. And that works. We can see them in a relationship with someone of the opposite gender. And that works. But it kind of gets grey if said bisexual character claims to be bisexual but we never see them with someone of the same gender or if they marry someone of the opposite gender and have a kid. People accuse this, and not always wrongly, of being 'gay but not too gay' or some other form of trying to have representation but not actually showing the representation. At the same time, it isn't impossible for someone who's bisexual to end up with someone of the opposite gender and live happily ever after with a kid so its hard to call it 'bad' representation.
...
Through circumstances surprising no one more than myself, I have gotten Assassin's Creed Syndicate.
Is it any good?
noisivelet naht nuf erom era srorrimBetter than Unity, just a bit above mediocre overall, but not a particularly well-done or interesting entry for the Ass-Creed franchise. Looks like the developers finally ironed out the engine they're using and little else.
Hmm. Issue is the game is VERY large, so I'll have to see whether or not I have the data to download it. I'm busy with Fallout 4 and my FIFA 16 RTG, anyway, so I'll have to see.
Also, just played AC Chronicles: China for the PC. Are those the worst keyboard controls ever seen or what? Dear god, F and G and C and strange AF keys, AND you need a hand for the mouse as well! I'm considering connecting the controller, otherwise my hands will twist inside each other.
