Trope is being incorrectly potholed: The Yoshi

The trope The Yoshi is about a power up item that works as a mount. The problem is that the trope is being potholed whenever Yoshi comes up, even in games like Yoshis Island and Brawl where he's instead a playable character. I've already removed links from:

• Ass Kicks You
• Yoshis Story
• Excuse Plot

With Yoshi becoming a playable character more often than a power-up in recent years, this trope could probably use a rename. Yoshi hasn't actually been The Yoshi in most of the games he's been in in recent years.

Wow. Look at those awful usage numbers. Rename this, stat.

Something like Adorable Mount would cut way down on the misuse.

Ouch.

Adorable isn't required, just common. It's about getting a mount as an item. I agree it needs a serious rename though.

And yes, the stats are horrid. I think that's why no one had noticed before.

Instant Mount Powerup? Mount Powerup? Drivable Powerup?

For a trope that has listed since April 2009, its performance is... shoddy. As far as a rename is concerned, would Power-Up Mount suffice?

I like Power-Up Mount better than Mount Powerup. The latter sounds like it's powering up the mount.

My vote's also for Power-Up Mount.

Makes me wonder if this shouldn't be slightly broader to include all Instant Summon Mount s though like Epona from Zelda which is done via music. Or Lightning's Odin in Final Fantasy XIII.

Probably should YKTTW Adorable Mount though.Yoshi and Chocobos (Chocobo Racing most of all) big examples of that.

Most of the examples aren't summoned though. They're found in boxes and such in predetermined locations. You wouldn't be broadening the trope. You'd be making the current good examples no longer the trope.

Which is why I said make it slightly broader. Or make a Super-Trope to cover all spawnable mounts. Covering all whistle, use this item, hit that powerup, poof instant mount spawn.

It's not broader. It's a sister idea. A mount, but in a videogame isn't really a trope. What you're talking about and what this trope are are related, but you can't really supertrope them.

I guess your right. (it wouldn't be just any Video Game Mount some you have no control over and just stay there till you come back. Dynasty Warriors 2-5 did that.) two more things to YKTTW.

Anyway enough thread derail... Fine with the suggested name. Can we skip the crowner and go straight to the renaming?

I haven't heard anyone protest the rename or the name of Power-Up Mount, but I'd like to let this be here more than an hour unless Eddie wants to pull the mod card.

Yeah, this thread isn't really having a lot of argument. Just consensus. If there is none by tomorrow I'm going to just change the name.
