I always thought a Pokemon fighting game would be cool. And I figured it'd be like this: with assists and everything.

It's nicely animated, but the game doesn't look very solid mechanically. And Snorlax's moveset doesn't make much sense to me - one of the most immobile critters in the series bounding around the screen like that looks pretty ridiculous.

But somehow,

Yeah the gameplay looks rather average for a fan fighter but still the concept and approach is neat.

There's another Pokemon-based fighter: CAP Fight, which is based on Smogon's Create a Pokemon series. It's got some really good support, and moves really well. ^^b

But somehow,

Blazekin how I hate it. The game does look fun, if only for being well animated and for nostalgia.

Game Freak, take note. Your franchise has wasted potential as a turn-based game.

honestly, there aren't very many genres that pokemon wouldn't work well in. I'm still waiting for my pokemon SRPG, but this is pretty cool too.

For a mons-based SRPG (although from a franchise that precedes Pokemon by about a decade), try Devil Survivor.

I've wanted an action-RPG Pokemon for years...I guess Rumble sort of counts, but it doesn't look very substantial and it's not really what I'm thinking of. Also, MMO, but everyone's thought of that. Point-and-click adventure, yup. Platformer, depends on the 'mon. Yeah, I'd say the only genre that doesn't really work is first-person shoo—oh wait.

The game in the OP doesn't seem very substantial, but it has some really nice spritework. If it had a big-game budget and Capcom developed an official version with Nintendo/Gamefreak's blessing, that would be epic.

I actually had the version when there were only like, four characters. And then the game stopped working for some reason.

Also I sucked cause I had no idea wtf to do.

[up][up][up][up]Capcom? I prefer Arc System Works(Guilty Gear, Blazblue). With Daisuke Ishiwatari doing arrangements of various pokemon battle themes. That would be an awesome fighter.

Yeah I wish someone did make an official version. I already know the response.

"I hate grinding/turn based battle/elemental rock paper scissors/JRPGs make a real time game. A good one rumble sucks."

What is essentially Street Fighter with mons is released on WiiU/3DS. Nintendo, when are you gonna make new IPS?...Is that my favorite Pokemon? Maybe this game will be good after all?

Garchomp's dragon rush comes out too fast! Wailord's hit box is too big.

There would definitely need to be a new set of Pokemon built for it if a Pokemon action game was ever made, because 1. Creating unique animations for every attack that each of what, 600 Pokemon (heck, even if they only kept the 150 from Black and White it would be pretty tough) can possibly learn would be downright impossible, and 2. If they want to keep the scales correct, then legendaries would be either incredibly broken or incredibly useless, depending on how their attacks work, and some, like, as Cider mentioned, Wailord, just wouldn't work at all.
