We never hear Bowser speak because Eggman cuts into his line before he says anything. .... and we know that Mike Pollock was never approached to voice him!!?!!
UH OH.
Like I keep saying, it's Disney, they probably brought in Jim Cummings after checking who did the voice for the classic animated series.
Wait a minute... "Bowser can talk but, a la Teenage Maggie in 'Lisa's Wedding', he gets interrupted by other characters"? Both as a nod to Bowser's voice's infamy in Super Mario Sunshine and as a Director Allusion for Rich Moore?
CALLED IT!!! (check out the W-I-R WMG tab, I really, actually called it)
I'm from Piedmont. No relation with Piedmon, mind you!I had left the official website up for a while, and when I plugged in my headphones, I was surprised to hear some kind of announcement. If you sit around and listen, there's four announcements:
"Last call for Tapperwagon, departing in Outlet 2. Tapperwagon, last call."
"All aboard the Soul Train, Outlet 12."
"Pac-Manorail, now arriving in Outlet 7."
"Ladies and gentlemen, please do not leave personal items unattended. Unattended items will be confiscated. Report any suspicious activity to the Surge Protector."
I'm wondering what game the Soul Train goes to? Soul Calibur is the only arcade series I can think of that begins with "Soul".
Yeah, on an earlier update, they spiced up the crowd chatter and added those announcements. The bad thing about it is that you can't record the music from each area so cleanly anymore, unless you got some kinda decompiler for that stuff. Plus I couldn't understand almost any of the announcements except the familiar "unattended items" one. "Tuckaway"? "Hilarium"? "Soltrane"?
I'd suspect as much. Also... Heh. Pac-Manorail.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaNow I wonder why I'm finding videos on Youtube where other people are brought into the recording studio to dub over the "You're mimicking me" scene. Some kind of special tour?
@Bagof Magic Food - Ah, okay! Yeah, some of the announcements took several hearings for me to figure out what they were saying and I had to turn up my sound a good amount. It helped that all the background music and crowd chatter had stopped by the time I plugged in my headphones, so the only noise I had was just the announcements when they came on.
It does seem to be some kind of tour, I've seen a few articles that links were posted to on Tumblr talking about a Wreck-It Ralph tour at Disney Animation.
There's one thing I wanted to ask you guys - given the movie has official renders for each character, first released with the official posters (i.e. Zangief and Eggman) and then as separate artwork (i.e. a poster showing the same Zangief render alone in Game Central Station, and Eggman among the characters in the movie's site's character section), where's Bowser's official render? It'd be sad if the character went kinda Out of Focus because of the whole "Mario brothers aren't in" thing.
I'm from Piedmont. No relation with Piedmon, mind you!I'd say it's more or less the fact that they could only get limited rights to him, ie for a few select scenes in the film. The main reason Zangief and M. Bison appear so prominently in the advertisements is because Capcom honestly loves their crossovers. For Eggman and Sonic, thats just the result of SEGA whoring out his license.
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.I think the Wreck-It Ralph people have clarified that Mario and Luigi aren't in because they didn't exactly know where to put them without dragging the plot down, not because Disney couldn't get them in. It's easy to see why Bowser was chosen given his fiery spit take. They wanted a fiery spit take and Nintendo lent them the best known fire-breathing dragon of video games, Bowser.
Meanwhile Capcom loves these crossovers, Sega knows good promotion when they see it, and these companies probably don't care all that much about Q*Bert, Clyde, or Neff showing up in promotion of the film.

Wizard Needs Food BadlyI still hope the good ol' Koopa King gets the bio he deserves. I'll say, when I read "Hedgehog Nemesis" as Eggman's introduction, I cracked up and completely lost it.
I'm from Piedmont. No relation with Piedmon, mind you!Actually, I'm convinced that that explanation (ie not fitting in Mario and Luigi because of writing) is more or less an excuse to cover up the fact that they couldn't get the rights. Jusging by Moore's reaction to Silverman name dropping the brothers on the SDCC panel, as well as interviews that stated they couldn't obtain property rights since Mario and Luigi were "still being used for game development", I wouldn't put it past that they were too expensive. Disney's just covering their tracks now, in case they can convince Nintendo to collaborate.
BTW someone uploaded the Wi R read along on You Tube

"i'm like the pimpmaster hustledaddy of all snippy bookshrews" -Dave StriderI wouldn't be surprised if they used this as a precursor with which to make Disney Vs Capcom: Battle For The Magic Kingdom.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.HEY! The ending's missing!! (I already know it, but I wanted to see it anyway.) Still, this contains lots of fresh spoilers, especially Turbo's origin, and why game-jumping is considered such a bad idea.
Yeah, I bet the crossover floodgates (canon AND fanfic) are really going to open after this film comes out!

Oh, part 2 was uploaded as well. I just thought it wasn't necessary to post.
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.Yeah, I would click on the Youtube button to go to the video on its Youtube page, then find part 2 somewhere in the related video suggestions or on the uploader's account.
Bowser and Eggman... Meh... I want to see Robotnik and Vega Bison interact more, myself.

You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction. Here's the Wreck-It Ralph links for this week!
The Facebook Sweepstakes code for coins was posted here on Twitter. It's BCX89XFE.
This week's Bonus Mission was to watch the teaser trailer for the video games and the prize entry is for the 3DS game.
The Disney Parks Blog posted about a Wreck-It Ralph event on October 20. The event is already full.
I took screenshots of Hero's Duty in the movie trailers and the online game and wrote up a comparison here. It's VERY image heavy, as there's 42 pictures and some of them are a bit big.
From Tumblr:
Video about the Ralph and Vanellope toys.
Pictures of where they're building the Wreck-It Ralph meet and greet at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Jamie/nekonohime posted a link to a post about a Wreck-It Ralph themed tour at the Disney Animation Studio.
Jamie also posted a link to an article listing the pros and cons of if the movie is going to be good or not.
Jamie posted a link to an article talking about Skrillex and includes a short clip from Hero's Duty.
Jamie posted a link to an article about Sonic & All-Stars Racing that mentions Wreck-It Ralph.
A list of video interviews with the cast.
Giantchicken on Tumblr saw that new toys have popped up on the Disney Store website.
Heyyl0sp00ky found a new TV spot on YouTube.
And a few reposts in case anyone missed them earlier this week:
The Wreck-It Ralph Facebook page posted about a cheat code that can be used on the website.
Downloads for Meet Calhoun and Vanellope:
Stat screenshots for Meet Calhoun and Vanellope:
Download for the Gamefly commercial
All the characters but 1 can be unlocked on the official site
Announcement quotes from Game Central Station on the official site
Eggman Robotnik and Vega Bison should totally have a conversation referencing name localization issues.
Excellent work MW!
Finally saw part two of the read-along video! (Yes I figured it should be on Youtube, but I was baffled that there was no direct link to it in the end.) I REALLY like how the dialog (assuming it's the same as in the movie) plays with the concept of what being the "Hero" and "the Bad Guy" in a game is versus what the characters realize it actually means. Exactly the kind of thing I love to see!
It also confirms that yes, Vanellope is a princess too. I would've preferred if they didn't use THAT cliche, but it is a Disney film after all. I can live with it.
And I called it on King Candy being a villain!! (Just not exactly how, but hey, there was no mention of Turbo until now.) Also I noticed that, while the coloring book show's Candy's Cybug form, the read-along book doesn't. Too scary?
Just two more weeks. Just two more weeks. Just two more weeks.

:O Oh you're right!!
:D
Granted, the last time Bowser was voice acted, I seem to recall people being displeased with the voice they chose, so maybe it's for the better.
