[up]For the character page, we'd probably have to wait until the movie comes out on DVD so someone can get a high quality pic.

Today I'm catching up on videos of the FIFJ arcade game from the last couple of months. Here's one from another expo that plays for a good long while, then shows off a lot of the attract mode at the end. Let's see if I can make any more interesting observations about this version from what I've seen.

  • The brick piles don't just block you unless you use the jump button, they actually kill you (by tripping?). This also removes the bricks, though.
  • But you can jump from the top floor up through Ralph without trouble, seemingly!
  • Dying makes you restart from the bottom row, but in the middle of the column you were in before.
  • I observed before that ducks always come in twos and always reset their positions when you die, even though Ralph doesn't. Now I notice that the ducks not only flap their wings more slowly than in other ports of the game, they also never speed up their flight throughout the game; they looked just as slow when I checked a video of the final level.
  • Not only does Felix's hat flash when he has pie power, so does his hammer, just like the special hammer in Wrecking Crew!
  • Some copies suffer slowdown?

Now I also noticed that in the movie, Felix is able to run along the ground and jump at the windows as he fixes them—see here. But the panes still fill in one at a time, just like the home versions of the game. This may be because it's a re-skin of the old demo where Felix was filling in bricks in a large hole in the wall and so there was no ledge there for him to stand on, but it does make it curious that the arcade version lets Felix fix two windowpanes at once even without a power-up, making it less true to the movie's game.

In my Toy Story/WIR crossover idea, they are at first unaware of each other's sentience. Imagine this scene:

Rex the Dinosaur: "Guys!! The characters in the video game I have been playing are alive, and they need our help!!"

Mr. Potato Head: "I Knew those games were going to drive him crazy!"

[lol]

The cameo appearance of a Buzz Lightyear videogame where nobody realizes they're video game characters sounds like gold.

But is Disney able to do that? Or willing to do that? I don't recall them ever referencing a Pixar production in a Disney production except for indirectly in a single episode of House Of Mouse.

[up][up][up][up] I actually ripped a screenshot of Markowski, from the German trailer. It's not perfect quality, but adapting it to the site's 350px restrictions (maximum width) should result in the pic reverted back to higher quality. I'll upload another pic for Markowski, including both Markowski him and Ralph disguised as him.

I remember one moment in the trailer that has a clear middle-level shot of him with his index finger pointing up. I can probably find an HD trailer of that on You Tube, take a screenshot, and upload that image for linking here. But You Tube now has that annoying Play arrow in the middle whenever a video is paused! :(

[up]x6:

Sijo reminded me of the similarities between Gene and Mr. Potato. I'm not talking about the mustache alone: they're both obnoxious Jerkasses whose lack of respect for their respective movies' leads causes most of the trouble. And just as you want to punch Mr. Potato in Toy Story, you want to do the same with Gene. Think about it! We might even say Gene is an Expy of Mr. Potato!

Some awesome people on Tumblr have been uploading the official Wreck-It Ralph comics, here's links to all of them that I've seen so far.

I'm not sure if any of these have been posted before, sorry if they have!

Welcometorivendell posted the Hero's Duty prequel comic in two parts: Part 1 | Part 2

Tamorajcalhoun posted the Hero's Duty prequel comic in a single post: Comic here

Pushmipullu posted the two Comic Zone comics: Wrecking Party | The Donut Kart

N-jay81 found a Malaysian graphic novel of the movie, it seems to have the same art style as the Comic Zone comics. One thing I found interesting about it is that quite a few panels are set up like pictures from the kids' books and the coloring book, I did a few double-takes because the similarities were surprising. They're not exact copies, though, there are differences and the different art style of the comic, but it was kind of strange.

Here's the post with the download link - SPOILERS for the whole movie (If the download link doesn't work, let me know and I'll upload the file I was able to download from it elsewhere.)

[up] Just in case anyone asks me why Mewtwo Warrior is among the "most memorable people in the thread" I mentioned in my post in the previous page. Keep it goin', man. You're awesome. [awesome] grin

@Alex Sora 89 - Oh gosh, thank you so very much for all of your kind words! I'm so glad you enjoy the stuff I've found! smile

@Troliolio - Thank you so much and thanks for following me! I don't think it's come up, but I'm a girl. smile (If all goes well, next week I'll be posting a pic of me and the costumed Ralph at Disney World. grin I'm going to try to convince my sister to bring her nice camera so we can get better pictures of the concept art gallery (including the stuff I missed/wasn't there when I went a few months ago) and all the stuff at the meet and greet.)

[up] Oh... oh. Awkward, I said "Keep it goin', man", but... well, I'm twice as glad that a graceful girl is the one troper(ette) that gave us all those awesome links. Even though I'm trying my best not to think about a genetically-engineered Pokémon in a Hero's Duty Powered Armor with a pink bowtie on her head. Not only it's further proof as to how this movie brings everyone together; we have a Gamer Chick (perhaps) among our ranks! Squee!

[EDIT: You might have noticed I get kind of chivalrous among girls. Even though I have a girlfriend... I can't help it.]

I'm sort of a Gamer Chick too, I guess, except I'm absolutely horrible at them so it doesn't really count. Like, I still haven't beat the Elite Four in Pokemon Black and it's been roughly a month and a half and I have 50 hours of play time. Yeah. [lol]

On-topic: I love those picture books! They have that warm fuzzy hand-drawn feel.

@Alex Sora 89 - Not to worry, "man" can be used in a friendly way for everybody, like what you did. smile Ha ha, that's a pretty great mental image there! grin And yep, I've been playing games ever since I can remember, my Mom and Dad started me gaming with the NES when I was little, so I've grown up with video games. I'm fair at playing them, though I'm better at some games than others. Portal's one of my favorites and I cosplay Chell at conventions. grin

And nighty night!

@Troliolio - I really like all of the picture books too! Though, the graphic novel's art seems to be kind of hit or miss, sometimes the art is really great, and sometimes it's just weird looking. I took a better look at it, and amusingly enough, Turbo Time is still present next to Fix-It Felix Jr. in current times (the Big Golden Book makes the same mistake too, the location of the console is just different). Also, on the last page of the graphic novel, it appears that Turbo Time is next to Sugar Rush as well. [lol]

...I'm a guy... but don't have any girlfriend. :( I am a casual gamer though.

The comics are mostly hit or miss for me, much like how the old comics in Disney Adventures used to be. The artwork for the "Hero's Duty" prequel fits, but for the others, it just seems they tried to translate as much of the final designs from the film as possible to the point where none of the characters have any life. I'd like to see more expressive drawings. They're drawn for a reason- you should embrace what you can do with line!

@Shota - You know, now that you mention it, you're right. I didn't pick up on that exactly, but I did notice that things seemed just generally off in the comics. There's a few times when an expression or a position is really great, but yeah, they're just kind of there for the most part, sort of just going through the motions.

Isn't the default assumption (due to language limitations) that a person of indeterminate gender should be addressed as "he"? I wish there were a better term but since there isn't, if a girl doesn't admit her gender then she must have her reasons and one shouldn't ask anyway.

Anyway: Add me to the list Mewtwo's fans, her latest links have been as awesome as usual, especially the Hero's Duty comic, that was surprisingly good (and well drawn too) even if you know that technically, that never happened.

I love how all the Sugar Rush side stories seem to involve someone going to Vanellope for help with an interesting problem.

I still think a preschool spin-off show taking place in Sugar Rush would do Disney well.

@Sijo - Oh gosh, thank you so much! smile And I'm glad you enjoyed them! I was so excited to see that somebody had put up the Hero's Duty one because I don't have an ianything.

Ha ha, good point about the Hero's Duty comic! And some of the timeline seems a bit weird in comparison to the timeline shown in the movie, but it's still cool.

Heh, I like to joke that Aperture Science is the one behind the lab and the Cy-Bugs, so Brad sneaking around the lab in the comic gave me Doug Rattmann vibes. [lol]

Hero's Duty doesn't seem to have any bosses as far as we know, right? And I don't just mean the flash version.

If there were some, could they have all become the bosses from the retail console game of Wreck-It Ralph?
