Yeah, I have negative hype regarding Color Splash right now.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! They should just re-release TTYD at this point.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Color Splash vs Federation Force for most backlash...
Mileena MadnessFed Force at least looks like it's retaining the core gameplay of the previous games and actually looks promising.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I said burn everything from Sticker Star. I said to burn it! WHY ISN'T IT BURNT?!? WHYYYYYYYYYY!!
-Sigh-
I do not like what this game looks like.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...Like I mentioned in the Direct topic, it's interesting that they acknowledged the Federation Force backlash and structured its segment around explaining what's good about it. I'm wondering if Color Splash is going to get a similar segment at some point.

Paint Splash in a nutshell?
Told you it wasn't going to be an RPG.
Not really sure why they did it though. The way they presented it, you could tell they knew fans would hate it.
Best guess?
It was too far into development during their big "spinoffs that completely miss the point" phase from last year to cancel it.
Did they start development on it before Sticker Star was even out?
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I gave "Sticker Star" the benefit of the doubt and tried it any way. I did not like it. No way I'm buying this.
I'm not gonna cry burn the witch just yet on this game since there could be information that we're unaware of, but that was not a good first impression, I'll say that much.
Based on the latest batch of spin-offs, if you got a bad first impression it won't be for you.
Ah well, Mario & Luigi was always the superior series anyway.
Epic Mario Paper Sunshine?
Huh, you'd think that after the backlash Sticker Star got, they would have taken more inspiration from the Paper Mario RPGs for this one. I haven't played Sticker Star, but I can see why everyone is disappointed. I was expecting them to return to their roots with the next Paper Mario game myself.
That being said, the game looks pretty nice, and it does look like there's more substance to the overworld.

"Pardon me, that extremely loud and extremely deep voice you may have just heard. It was me. Oh, it is such a long story..."Sad to hear that the new PM is.... well, the opposite of what people wanted.
I hope someday they surprise us with an all-new 2D Mario game that offers new elements and setting (like the NES, SNES and GB did). At this point it's more likely they'll just do another NSMB (New Super Mario Bros X for NX). =<

My point is, wait for the game to actually be released first before treating it like the devil. You never know what surprises it might have. Remember how people felt about Super Mario 3D World when it was first announced?

Counterpoint; Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival.
Looked like a turd, smelled like a turd, and turned out to BE a turd.

I tried Sticker Star. I didn't like it.
That trailer screamed "Sticker Star 2, now with even more item-based, unrewarding combat!"
I'm not going to like it.
I liked the look of 3D World from the get go, and it turned out amazing. The general consensus I remember from its initial reveal was "Meh, 3D Land was good, but will it be as good on Console? I doubt it." Which is a rather far cry from "NOT AGAIN!"

Click for more crappy pixel artThis.
You can't expect us to give this game a chance when they are fixing NONE of the complaints Sticker Star garnered.
Okay, the trailer was bad, but I'll reserve judgment until I see more information about it.
Yeah, now that I think about it, the Super Mario 3D World comparison was bad.
Do you want me to curse this game with the hatred of a thousand suns or something?

Eh, for all we know, there could be way more of the first two Paper Marios in Color splash than the trailer lets on. Maybe this is the part of the game before partners? Maybe there's a plot more like the first Paper Marios than Sticker Star? Who knows?
If that's not the case, though, I can easily see this crashing and burning due to lack of support from fans, due to it being on the Wii U. That would certainly cause Nintendo to rethink things. Maybe then we'd see the Paper Mario 3 people want. Who knows? We certainly wouldn't see another Sticker Star after that.
Likely busy writing something. Why no love for Super Paper Mario?
Oh, look, the new Paper Mario Wii-U game has the same gameplay and genericness as Sticker Star. Hurray. Just what everybody wanted.
I've got Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash, Spyro, and Paper Mario fanfics.
