The Villain Protagonist of my story is an Affably Evil teenage girl with Psychic Powers ramped Up To Eleven. She's currently engaged in a Roaring Rampage of Revenge with the people who made her what she is. To quote Jack: "They pay. Their associates pay. Their friends pay. The world's gonna be a lot emptier when I'm done."

Outside of that, she's really quite a nice person, provided you don't get on her bad side. Extra emphasis on that last bit. The story revolves around a detective she meets up with that offers her a roof over her head and three square meals a day. They hit it off and quickly become friends. The detective is adamant though. He can't let her keep on killing. She respects his opinion, but insists she must continue on her path. His problem now is trying to understand her. He thinks that if he can figure out why she feels the way she does, maybe he can gelp her. Convince her to stop.

The question is "What does she think?" Her powers were discovered in childhood, when they seemed like nothing more than cheap magic tricks. She was taken by an organization that wanted to learn what made her powers tick, so they could amplify and replicate it. A couple years of some They Would Cut You Up later, she's had more than a couple dozen surgeries performed on her, more than half of her internal organs removed and replaced with synthetics, and had her powers forcibly heightened through the right combination of stimuli. Basically, she starts to suffer what I can Frankenstein Syndrome. She thinks that because they tried to make her a monster, she has to act like one. Like she can't be a human anymore. So she does the first thing any monster does and goes on the hunt for her creators.

What do you think?

The way you describe it it sounds like she wants to please her creators in someway but hates them. She has this warped view of why she was transformed and she wants them to be successful? why is that? Why is she convinced that they were able to transform her? Most characters in her situation that I'm familiar with operate along the "I'M NOT A MONSTER DAMN IT!!!!!" as they plow their way through their ex tormenters so her mindset seems healthy, as she realizes that they've messed around with her physically and mentally, but also very unhealthy because she's killing people and blaming them without taking any responsibility.

It's like they always say "Oh God no, please please please, you don't have to do this, please God no I have a..."

This is all the advice I can think of.

"You're not a monster, you're $NAME. You're a person and you're my friend. Be the best person you can be and live a wonderful life. Use your gifts for good; that is the best way to show the people who hurt you that you're better than they are."
