If my dreams are any indication...

My mental world is usually a slight caricature of familiar places. Most often the schools I've been to, or video/card game stores that have good deals.

Not too exciting, but I guess that's sort of an indication of what I tend to think about.

Ruining everything forever.

Depends on where you go.

the most outwardly visible areas of my brain are filled with visual music, explosions of color as loud tones blare from nowhere in particular. If you were to descend deeper, you'd get into places that look like Dali paintings, and eventually, plain fields of pitch color, representing my moods.

I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....

I actually can't imagine it.

I don't think such a landscape exists that could sum it up.

This isn't 'cos I'm genuinely weird or special, just that I can't really condense the feel of my mind into "place"

I don't know. Probably some sort of big labyrinthine building with lots of close, cosy, comfortable rooms but also some opportunities to get lost and lonely.

Be not afraid...

A world of sky, of endless floating islands. Orbiting and drifting slowly around the central axis point of it all, Each chunk a segment of a different fantasy world, a different memory, a different life, characters and people abounding between them, skyships alive, the whole blue place alight with movement. Clouds everywhere, acting like Skia's, showing visions of everything imaginable, songs floating from the bards of each continent, The most wondrous and magical flora and fauna imaginable. Mushrooms that play notes when you hit their tops in some places. Waterfalls that disappear into the aether. Foxes that flit in and out of foliage, giant space whales, gear-filled contraptions working away at unknown tasks, bridges and spires, M.C. Esher-like effects from the individual chunk's gravities and the weightlessness of the aether around them. A world of creation, of myth, of legend.

And, at the center of it all, me, floating and watching, my wing'ed muse flying around and changing things, playing with scenes....

..... Is it weird that I have a mental image of my imagination? My muse?

If we go by some recurrent dreams of mine...

A big, dusty house with a very large and really quite wild garden. Some Alien Geometries, but understated. The cellar seems to go on forever,*

and there are secret passageways in all rooms. Plenty of bookshelves, almost everywhere. Not an unpleasant place, really, but a somewhat confusing one at times.

Outside it's very windy, but not in a scary way — the "wind = good" association seems to pop up very often in my subconscious, for some weird reason.

I love wind, so I know what you mean when you say that~

That being said, the skyworld does have wind of every kind, obviously..

Hmmmm.

Most of it would be a beautiful world of forests and rivers and small towns in Medieval Stasis filled with all kinds of magical creatures and fun stuff and an endless blue sky filled with beautiful cumulus clouds just asking to be flown around and over and under. In a high, green valley overlooking a wide undulating landscape of fields, there's a kind of quasi-Jedi/pseudo-Central Asian temple with a darkened room with nought in it but a candle that I sit and watch when I need to relax.

However...

Some of it would be a dark, blasted wasteland with a sky filled with smoke and stained red by the flames of forges and filled with the deafening clamour of the construction of machines and weapons of war.

The two parts are engaged in an unending conflict along a border that looks like the Western Front circa 1917.

There are probably quite a few brothels in there, too.

There'd be a huge ass ocean. And shit that looks like Mainframe from Reboot, the city from the gamecube Custom Robo, the weird internet shit from Digimon Our War Game, and the game world in Tron spread out chaotically in, on, above, and around said ocean.

Also lots of lotus and wheel motifs.

And lesbians. Always lesbians.

An walled Industrial Ghetto with a lot of speakers blaring propaganda messages, discouraging speeches and heavy metal music. There are guards roaming around the streets, armed, paranoid but usually just slacking around. Given that this is an Industrial Ghetto, there are lots of factory workers on each building, but they're like the guards who are just sitting around, talking amongst themselves about trivial things and doing little work.

My mental world is unfathomable, but probably looks like hundreds of bright threads, some larger, some smaller, some converging, others not. However, the mental world I use for messing around in/imagination/testing looks like a kind of hybrid of Svalbard mountains, English woods, Dartmoor, and some generic mountain plateaus.

I've had a dream which contained what I think would be an accurate version of my mental world: A derelict and disjointed clockwork library supervised by a senile old couple.

Most of my thought processes seem to be verbal or abstract, so it's hard to say.

If it's anything like my typical dreams, I'm thinking it's most likely reminiscent of the Cotswolds countryside, but with lots of school/university-like buildings and lots of books and clocks all over the place. Also, building layouts rearrange themselves from time to time, and doors don't always lead to places that it's physically possible for them to lead.

I've thought a lot about this before and what I rather easily determined is most comparable to the Toxic Jungle/Sea of Decay from Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind or possibly Cobra-la from G.I. Joe: The Movie.

My mental world would likely be similar to a really horrible nightmare. My mind is NOT a pretty place. I do not want to go there and neither should anyone else.

My mental world, I imagine, consists of tall metal spires, rising out of a vast ocean, with bridges connecting between them. Something like the Quicksilver Sea in Mirrodin.

My mental world would look like something out of a Magitek fantasy comic, with a lot of tall, Gothic spires, airships, steampunk automobiles, ornithopters, baroque decoration on every building and vehicle, mages in flowing robes and students in spiffy uniforms walking the streets, open-air stalls selling fruit, vegetables and the occasional weird magitek device, and other such things. And in the center, there's a humongous library full of obscure knowledge, tropes, and other things relevant to my interests. In several locations, however, the Magitek city has given way to huge cathedrals like Norn's Annex from New Phyrexia.

And wastelands that seem to swallow up portions of the mental world whenever I'm in my darker moods.

And a lot of gay, pretty guys. Except near the annexes. All that's there are a bunch of cyborg zombie priest soldiers.

And there's a crazy Nietzsche Wannabe ultra-pessimist version of me wandering around, trying to preach his mad creed. Kinda like if Tyler Durden was evil. And a Final Fantasy villain.

Hmm...I'm envisioning a regimental command area in a forest whose faraway treelines are strobed by artillery flashes. Uniformed messengers pass in and out, radios report ongoing developments to be copied down by headset-wearing lieutenants, and in the midst of the chaos a colonel leaning over a campaign map, calmly giving orders. *

Next to him is a lean, cynical man in a different uniform, denoting him to be part of the "opposing force". He is the voice of the opposition; his job is the devil's advocate, to point out the weaknesses in any of my plans or thoughts. Not a very popular job, but he is there to stay, nonetheless. Rounding out the command group is a grizzled man with a vaguely Scottish accent. He is the regimental sergeant-major, and his is the voice I hear in times of stress saying, simply, "keep moving." Around them the many lower officers, filing away and collating information gathered from a hundred sources, along with the many specialists and civilians for the many, many different aspects of life.
