Did anything about the Screaming/Psycho Mantis situation have to do with the Patriots, because I thought it was mostly Liquid Ocelot messing with a traumatized young woman's psyche because he could.
But seriously, I love how supposedly nanomachines and hypnotherapy can result in being possessed by an actual ghost that can vibrate your controller for old times sake if you have one with a vibration function.
Was there actually any difference between the Mantis nanomachine ghost and the Liquid nanomachine ghost?

What I meant was; Drebin was working for the Patriots, and they used nanomachines to explain everything.
The Mantis thing actually makes sense if it's Liquid Ocelot experimenting with necromancy on a traumatized woman for shits and giggles. It doesn't make sense with nanomachines.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
You can't explain Liquid's immortality in MGS 1 with nanomachines.
How did he survive that HIND crash? Or Rex exploding? Or falling off Rex? Or a car crash?
He just can.
And yet he still thought he was inferior to Solid Snake...even after saying Snake would die if he fell off REX. So Liquid, if you can survive something Solid can't, how are you the inferior one again?
I think Liquid got all of Big Boss' Stupid Genes. He's gonna somehow warp reality to make mushrooms recharge batteries next time we see him.

Actually, considering there was a thing where Raiden's life was tied to hers for a while in the Big Shell Incident stuff. I'm going to say definitely involving nanomachines.

EDIT: I think the main issue I have with Portable Ops is that it's kinda squished in the timeline.
I wish it was closer to Operation Snake Eater and further away from Les Enfants Terribles.
Because I sorta want a few years of the Patriots/Cipher as a weird movie club with aspirations to world domination. Ocelot with his westerns, Zero with James Bond, Para-Medic with every other movie ever made.
EVA's not a big movie goer but is willing to give it a try. Big Boss just sort of goes with the flow. He doesn't watch movies much if left to his own devices, but if someone asks he won't say no. They have to drag Signt away from his work.
The idea of a Patriot movie night is one of my favorite things.

Just finished Peace Walker's second boss fight.
Calling this part of the game "intense" would be the understatement of the decade.
Okay, I'm at the credits. I can't help but feel I might have felt more if I didn't spoil the ending for myself so long ago, but this is an ending to be proud of. Like MGS 3 had a pretty good ending, but I think I prefer this one.
I can see someone being like "UGH IT'S SO STUPID AND ANVILICIOUS, WHERE DID ALL THOSE BUTTERFLIES COME FROM ANYWAY, WHAT A PIECE OF STUPID GARBAGE", but the way the lines were delivered, the way The Boss ended Peace Walker's transmission, and how that goddamn loading screen came up at the end - what an experience.
I know there's more to the game, but what a damn good ending that was.

I love how egotistical, self-centered, and quite frankly fanatical Big Boss comes across in Peace Walker's first ending.
And second ending. But especially the first one.
Only Big Boss would take the Boss A.I.'s decision to not nuke the world as a personal betrayal. As an act of giving up, of cowardice. Of rejection.
It takes a very unique sort of mind to see it that way.

By commiting suicide. If she had simply stopped the countdown to focus on fighting him first, it would have been different. Instead, she walked into a lake and stopped fighting altogether.
Remember that Big Boss was actively trying to stop her from nuking the world as well.
