I'd go for the world of Final Fantasy IX, it's so rich in different locales and scenery, maybe be like Bartz and become an adventurer.
Disclaimer: If anyone disagrees with anything I say, I am quite prepared to not only retract it, but also to deny under oath I ever said it.I'd say Myst, as long as the world I settle is actually populated.
- Maybe Narnia (post - Caspian - era). Even if you get killed, if you're a good person, the afterlife is decent there.
- Or Planescape - provided I could live on one of the nicer planes.
The Avatar: The Last Airbender world. Definitely. Fuck Narnia. Fuck Middle Earth. ATLA planet.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahEarthsea. It's got everything you could want in a fantasy setting- danger if you want it, safety if you want that. Magic, obviously, which somewhat resembles Shamanism with more scholarship. A beautiful setting, obviously inspired by Polynesia. A magic academy. Dragons. Ancient ruins, complete with eldrich abominations. And chicks dig wizards.
For something a little less idyllic, more contemporary, I could go for the DC Vertigo universe, although it's somewhat dangerous. Make the right friends, though, and you're pretty safe. Lots of different realms to choose from, including one that closely resembles contemporary Earth. There are some superpowered people around, but as the Sandman series made clear, you can be an ordinary person and still dabble in magic quite successfully.

Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! ~ GODMiddle Earth, in the Shire, just so I could die old age before it gets scoured. Absolutely beautiful, and a hobbit's life is pretty easy.

"Weird doors open. People fall into things."I'd spend summer in the Discworld, winter in Sigil, and take frequent day trips to Dream's Realm.
Aww, did I hurt your widdle fee-fees?I would love to visit Planescape, but no way could I live there. Even the Good-aligned planes sound kind of oppressive in their own ways.
Apparently I am adorable, but my GF is my #1 Groupie. (Avatar by Dreki-K)Not if you live in Ysgard.
You exist because we allow it and you will end because we demand it.Hell just give me those intelligence potions. It will be like Limitless lol.

hashtagsarestupid@TMA: one of the weird things about Equestria (and I agree with you, it would make a cool setting to live in) is that there is not much in that setting that we could not emulate easily enough, if we wanted to. Except some feats of magics like teleportation and the like, perhaps, but that's not really where the charm of the setting comes from anyway.
That's something I find very striking — I mean, what is it that Earth Ponies can do that us Earth Monkeys couldn't if we set our minds to it?

But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.Pokémon.
Even with all the Fridge Logic and Fridge Horror turned up to maximum, it would be freaking awesome to be a Pokémon trainer.

With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars.Narnia hands down. They have good sausages there, and your best clothes are never your uncomfortable ones.
Also, if I was going to be a nonhuman it'd be cool to be a Marsh Wiggle.

<><Oh, we get a choice of species too? Hmm... I'd be split between Angel and Doppelganger. On one hand, flight and charisma, on the other, instant identity antics. Hard choice, I must say.
The thing about making witty signature lines is that it first needs to actually be witty.I would like to live in Xanth. Hopefully I'll get a cool magic power, and I can hang around castle Roogna and see what self-aware adventure the resident monarchy gets into.
Yes I know what my icon is, but I sure as Hell wouldn't want to live there.

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Totemic: I'm aware of Bartz being in V, I'm saying I would do what Bartz did and just journey around the world not caring where I end up next.
For the record, I've played V twice.
Disclaimer: If anyone disagrees with anything I say, I am quite prepared to not only retract it, but also to deny under oath I ever said it.As grimdark as Warhammer Fantasy is, it is damn cool. Being an Empire knight would be an exciting if short existence.
When it's not being threatened by some overarching evil, Hyrule comes across as quite utopian. I'd pick that.
Swordsman Troper — Reclaiming The Blade — WatchSeconding how many awesome fantasies are in worlds I'd hate to live in. One of my favorite fantasy setting at the moment is World of Warcraft, but I wouldn't want to live in a place with near-constant war and vicious wildlife virtually everywhere.
A number of places might be OK, as long as I was born in a peaceful time/place. I'd want to be literate, though, and have access to books.
If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.Lyra's world after the events of the books. Daemons and sapient polar bears with flamethrowers are appealing.

It has - with a catch. In Harry Potter, sufficient quantities of magic in the air prevent electrical devices from functioning, and it's illegal to enchant the objects to get around this (the flying cars and motorbike seen in the books being illegal).

That's a hard decision to make, as many fantasy world I would happily live the rest of my days in. And which one appeals to me most depends on what point in my life I am.
I suppose right now, that world would be the Tales of Symphonia universe. Even if it isn't so utopian, most worlds aren't. What is appealing is that they are an escape from something you hate about your own world. Personally, I romanticize dating a half-elf. I think I can relate to what they're going through, and dating and having children with someone with elven blood is kind of exotic. I would want my children to have magical ability, and only maybe feel a little jealous of the fact they'd live longer than me. I'd do everything I could to shield them from discrimination and preach to everyone how half-elves are great, they have the best of both worlds and should be a living bridge between elves and humans.
I'd be so proud to see my son or daughter use magic. Something my own world probably doesn't have. Albeit, I might deal with my fear of death by trying to become more like a half elf myself. Maybe something along the lines of what Zelos claims. I'd therapy myself with elven genes or something along those lines in order to hopefully let me live longer.
Sorry humans, I'm a race traitor, through and through.<3
