Stockholm Shnozzing and A Match Made in Stockholm—how are these two tropes related to each other, and how should that relationship be clarified? Or should they be merged?

Well, my first observation is that Stockholm Shnozzing appears to describe a type of fanfiction, whereas A Match Made in Stockholm is canon-based. Additionally, A Match Made in Stockholm does not limit itself exclusively to romance.

It does seem rather confusing, though. Perhaps some wick checking is in order?

A Match Made in Stockholm: kidnapping/captivity turns to real love. The characters involved don't have to be the Hero and the Villain of the piece.

Stockholm Shnozzing: The hero turns evil, or the villain turns good, out of love for the other. No kidnapping or captivity necessary.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.

If Stockholm Schnozzing doesn't require kidnapping, then it's got a misleading name, seeing as it's a reference to Stockholm Syndrome, which does refers specifically to hostage situations.

I don't see any difference between A Match Made in Stockholm and its parent trope, Stockholm Syndrome; I propose a merge between the two.

Stockholm Schnozzing doesn't appear to be a separate trope; it's some combination of Stockholm Syndrome, Rape Is Love, and Easily Forgiven; I think this one should be cut.

Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!

Stockholm Syndrome is about hostages becoming sympathetic towards their kidnappers; A Match Made in Stockholm is the subtrope where the hostage falls in love with their kidnapper. I'm against merging those.

A Match Made in Stockholm has decayed. Right now it's the same thing as Stockholm Syndrome only played for comedy. And the examples are horribly out of kilter with a romance only trope.

Originally A Match Made in Stockholm was when kidnapping or some other form of forced captivity was used to create a Love Interest, with all the usual tropes associated with a romantic comedy. This is usually not a realistic depiction of Stockholm Syndrome.

I'd say that A Match Made in Stockholm needs a complete rewrite and then a clean up of the examples.

Stockholm Shnozzing is poorly written, but I think that it's describing a trope about how being hot for someone causes you to excuse their bad behavior or even support it. Has elements of Sex Makes You Evil. Also like Unholy Matrimony, only one of the characters starts off as a good guy.

I don't think it ought to be named with Stockholm in the title though because that's not what Stockholm Syndrom is.

Oh, look at this thread. Seeing as we also have Sobbin' Women (soon to be trope transplanted to the better name Abduction Is Love), we need to differentiate this trope from that as well.

Sobbin' Women is about the intentional abduction of a woman to make her a wife.

A Match Made in Stockholm is usually about a kidnapping for an unrelated reason (heck half the time it's an accident of some type) that then results in a romance. Think of it as a weird version of Meet Cute.

By "create a Love Interest" in my previous post I meant "used by the author to create a Love Interest"
