Character Development Thread--Discussion

I'm very sorry about my lack of posting in Mansion; I honestly couldn't be bothered Friday and today I got caught up making a breed for Creatures 3 and Docking Station. Furthermore, I'm sorry to report that I'm probably not going to post tonight, either. I will post tomorrow, though.

As for City...well, I'm certainly not thrilled about having to make descriptions for a ton of buildings, but I'll get back to working on that as soon as possible.

How about adding a junkyard to City?

If we add one I think it would have to be in the outskirts and even that might be questionable. This is the downtown or center of a large city and most stuff like that would be somewhere else in the city.

Maybe a pawnshop/antiques dealer and a secondhand/surplus store?

would an antiques dealer or charity run second hands good store fit your needs? Where I am it isn't unusual to see rummage stores near large commercial shopping centres, and you could fit one into the shopping area without having to take up a whole block.

Yeah, a second-hand shop would be fine.

What a day.

I just got a new laptop today so that's why I was gone for a while.

What's the weather and the time of year Character City will be in?

Also, any ideas for potential plots and drama from any of you?

Sorry for me not posting in the last few days. My ability to post here is quite hampered during the weekends than the weekdays.

I will, however, post today. Or at least try to post today.

I've only got one character planned for City right now, and I think I'd like to start him in the library, if that ends up being a place. I haven't quite thought of why yet, but I'll come up with something. I'd just like for it to be a library again.

I'll be bringing three characters in.

How about spring or mid-summer?

As for drama, no clue.

I've already decided on sending in Koyel ulon'Uelshu: the man that Koyel ul'Netho, the fellow in Mansion, is named after. Those familiar with the mages of Uel can probably already smell trouble brewing. It's only a matter of time before him or the lothexayu he'll have around as a power source pisses someone off.

Sorry, doesn't look like I'll be posting today...

What if my characters piss them off first? :P

I'll be bringing in Michael again, who's alter ego is the city's Hero with Bad Publicity (and for a good reason). Still wondering whether I should bring anyone else in as well...

Sorry for disappearing in Mansion.

I really want to join City. Not sure who I'll bring yet, though.

I'll be using Erik Longfang. Old character I occasionally use, but I'll be using his iteration as one of five brothers. Looking forward to it.

Working on a post for Mansion right now.

On City:

• For weather - I wasn't thinking of anything in particular when I wrote the OP, but considering the OP I'm probably going to say it's sunny to begin with. Emphasis on "to begin with" - depending on the whims of the participants, the weather might change several times over the course of the thread. I also didn't have anything particular in mind for the time of year, but late Spring sounds good.
• For the districts - I'm planning on writing a general description of the area, but I'm not going to write descriptions for every single building within them unless they're notable enough to warrant it. So if someone wants to throw in a random odds-and-ends shop into the shopping district, that's just fine.
• For plots: I think I already mentioned this, but the main reason for Centerpoint Tower's existence was to facilitate a plan of my own. Whether or not I decide to act on that plan depends on how the thread turns out.

On another note, seeing everyone announce who they're bringing in makes me happy and more eager to work on this. That said, I have a couple of tests to study for (one of which is a (likely) very difficult programming test), so I'm probably going to be a bit slow with it over the course of the next couple days.

I haven't decided which character to drop in, but I've got three I'd like to, I'll pick one depending on my/the thread's mood.

Secondly I'm a tad confused by the current scene in the sparring room, given Aseyu used a flying knee she'd be a ways away, certainly not within sidestep punch in jaw range. Plus autohit in general.

Sorry, various distractions all day. Taxes, cats, a silly discussion on love songs, horrific monsters from the nightmares of children, commentary about the national and gender politics of the Avatarverse, my attempts to explain the intricate and blood-soaked Uelane culture in the form of an in-universe essay... the usual.

So, we just gonna ignore Aqueos' flying knee point? Because... yeah, Jonathon sidesteps that, Aseyu's still gonna keep on going.

I'm reading through his posts and your posts and my posts, and I don't see Aqueous anywhere.

Unless you mean ASEYU, in which I didn't see Jonathan as 'stunned', so there wasn't a reason for him to not dodge, but when you word it that way I suppose I'll have to change it.

You misunderstand. I was referring to Aqueos' comments here.

EDIT: And sorry if I seem a bit grumpy. Meatspace doings might make me a tad temperamental — I'll try and account for it, though.
