Back from the marching competition. Now I have to write something up for Dig Site, but I find myself too afraid to make Vince do anything, making me question for a moment why I bother with him anymore. Again. And Mori's not well-developed at all; he's pretty early in his development cycle compared to other characters of mine and is built, at this moment, to be overshadowed by Vince in every way.
Ugh. I have to get up early tomorrow. *sleeps*
"Jack, you have debauched my sloth."So...does anyone have any plans for how to open the door? Otherwise I'll just have Herakleios transmute a hole in the wall next to it.

If I knew how I know everything I know, I'd only be able to know half as much because my brain would be clogged up with where I know it fromOkay Tehpillowstar, I've finished the recap, and it is in the SST thread proper.
I don't have any, and I don't think Rune would have any either. Anyone else who has a reasonable plan for how to get through would unknowingly be doing him a huge favor.

this place needs me hereIt's likely that either al-Faddil can, or we can borrow one of the K-14As to just lift/put-a-shoulder-to-it.
Nous restons ici.In fact, would anyone mind if I had Vince try to do it?
Might have to wait a bit while I write it; I'm on my phone.
"Jack, you have debauched my sloth."Meh, I don't have a problem either way. It's basically Ryuhza's choice.

If I knew how I know everything I know, I'd only be able to know half as much because my brain would be clogged up with where I know it fromMy characters (well, Krajn) could get past it, although if explosions are out of the question it might take a little while.
I am having a lot of voice trouble all of a sudden... which is particularly bad given that these are protagonists.
Should I post again in Cruise?
If anyone is still wondering about alleged hate between Shared Story and Character Development, I personally bear no ill will. The main difference as far as I can tell is that the goal of a Character Development thread is throwing characters into a setting and bouncing them off of each other, while Shared Story was intended to be less formal and more open to plot progression. I'm not saying Character Development threads don't have plot, but it's more of a plot-by-consensus, while Shared Story welcomes any dumb twist you feel like throwing at the other authors. The dumb twists were something I kind of enjoyed. One really bad idea could be the springboard for hours of fun trying to patch up a story only to have four more nonsensical elements show up and contradict each other in the meantime.
Now that I've opened a "Do whatever the hell" thread though, I guess the trollish appeal of trying to mess up the story is gone, or else everyone who liked to shake things up has abandoned these threads, because in nine pages a Velociraptor is still the most interesting thing anyone has tried.
Psycho Frea X, I'm not sure I like where your latest posts are going.
Sorry but Gault's post has resulted in a long string of... stuff.
Where do you think it's going? I'm just making sure.
Help?.. please...I haven't talked with Gault about it, but I was under the impression that whatever he was planning was meant to be a bit more slow-building and in the background. Having one of your characters pick up on it and freak out is not something I think has great possibilities.
I mean, Prisha has always been portrayed as a paranoid nutcase, so I'm not faulting anything you did, as such. His reaction was in-character. But if we have to go down the "weird eldritch thingy" route in the first place (which I'd rather not), I'd prefer the characters not have it become a central focus just yet.
Umm... we already know there is an unseen creature around that has the power to make someone hallucinate... and used it! That was slow?

Help?.. please...Who's this "we" you're referring to? No, the audience knows there's an unseen creature around, not the characters. At least, none of the characters except Prisha. And by all rights it's not something that he should know either. I'm in agreement with Nrjxll, he jumped to that conclusion rather quickly. Unless stuff like this happens to him all the time, I think you're going over the fourth wall.
My handling of this was intended to build tension. I have to put across that something is going on to set it up for me to do more with later. It's called foreshadowing, and I have to do it so that later, when I use it, it doesn't look as if all of a sudden I pulled something out of my ass.

yeyIt has enough of a mind to form the words Open the door.
Help?.. please...Given what we've seen of Prisha, the more reasonable explanation would probably be that he's not completely sane. Although given this is Prisha, who's known to have virtually no self-awareness, jumping to conclusions might not be so unreasonable.
Actually, Nrjxll makes a good case for this reaction to be in-character. I'll have to think about this.
yeyVince is vaguely aware that there is something at the dig site in a manner akin to being vaguely aware that you're being watched. Despite the reputation he has, there's not a whole lot he can do about this thing.
"Jack, you have debauched my sloth."Hold on, hold on, I'm confused. Is...is Gault's character the tentacle-y presence?
Edit: oh nvm, got it now.

If I knew how I know everything I know, I'd only be able to know half as much because my brain would be clogged up with where I know it fromWho's this Prisha you speak of who doesn't sound like any Prisha I know. He always makes judgments based on logical deductions and in thorough analysis, unless his lack of faith in humans are involved. Except maybe not in his earlier stages when I meant what I said when I said I might be too dumb to write him(hope I'm better now).
Also at times my insecurity got in my way of writing him which resulted in a few of his mistakes. Though there was one mistake that I couldn't live down and made me harshly scrapped Prisha Winter(also because I found a better surname that suits his whole Big, Screwed-Up Family). But he did have underlying brilliance that I know people had missed and it makes up for all that. You might have misinterpreted him due to that. All that problem was gone from Island onward though.
But then again there was also my Poor Communication Kills.

Help?.. please......Yeah, no.
Cannot post for a few hours.
That may be one of the most inaccurate character summaries I've ever seen an author give.
Really though Prisha's main problem in previous appearances is he comes with supporting cast, without which he cannot function well and with which his conversations are echo chambers.

Nous restons ici.Okay, I'm going to need a serious recap for Dig Site.
edited 22nd Oct '12 2:37:09 PM by Masterofchaos
There is a trope called Morality Pet you know? The reason Prisha didn't turn out so well in Island wasn't really due to his personality itself.
Besides you're missing the point. But what's the surprise.
But I need to be off for a while. I'll post more when I get back.

Help?.. please...Gaiz I'm really confused. ;-;
All right, I'm feeling a little better for now. At least, I've managed to set aside what's been bothering me in my mind for the moment. I should have a post out before long. Half an hour or an hour if I can keep focused.
EDIT: A distraction did come by, my post may take a little longer than I had projected.
When I'm done with that, I'll write you up a recap for Campfire, Tehpillowstar.
Weird funny thing I just noticed. This post and my heading post for the previous page both begin with the word 'all right', but with different spellings. Now why did I do that?
