Strange, I could've swore that I removed the real life section a while ago. Well, at any rate, I agree that it should be re-removed; as it is, it's just a gushy list of men tropers find to be "hot".
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.I think the standard procedure is to limit it to in-universe examples, otherwise we get another creepy page.
And kill the Real Life section dead. Honestly.
Agreed.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Okay, I cut the real life section and added "No Real Life Examples, Please" to the description. However, there is more that needs to be fixed on this page so let's keep this discussion open. For one, if we cut all of the non in-universe examples we will be cutting 90%-100% of the examples so we need to think about what to do with this page.
It should definitely be restricted to in-universe examples. I'm still flabberghasted that some fangirl went and stuck Sam Vimes on there.
I notice that a lot of the hotness pages that allow non-in-universe examples effectively amount to "Hot People But X." I'm tempted to say all of them should either be reworded to actually have something to say or be cut.
In my opinion, all of them should have the Real Life section cut. Yes, some people in real life are attractive. What the hell does that have to do with storytelling?
I agree with Morgan.
Fight smart, not fair.Well, that would be a lot of cuts, and many of them also seem to be legit Fetish Fuel Tropes, like Firemen Are Hot, or Hot Chick with a Sword, or Hospital Hottie, even if it isn't directly spelled out in-universe.
It would be quite troublesome if we would suddenly decide that hotness is YMMV, especially since most of the time, author intention is clearly there in these.
Of course, real life sections have nothing to do with storytelling, that's why they are real life sections.
But we already decided to keep Real Life sections as long as they don't cause special problems, like flame wars, so there is no reason to randomly remove some of them with an argument that boils down to "they are real life sections".
Though I agree about removing the Real Life section of Hot Dad for another reason: In fiction, "Dad" is a character type. In real life, for most people, it would be "list of hot people who happen to have children" but they are not portrayed as parents in the media.
It's worse than noting Tesla as a Mad Scientist, because his recognition actually fits the "scientist" label, but Johnny Depp isn't normally thought of as a father figure.
Depending on the trope and person, other "Hot" tropes could still appear in Real Life in the same way as in fiction, though, so keep those others.

Vimes nothing — somebody's listed Krillin as one. 'Cause apparently four-foot-tall, bald, noseless men have a very broad appeal
Then again, he's in a fighting shonen series, that's the Anime equivalent of having Heroic Build.
Fight smart, not fair.Hmmm, shouldn't this be a mirror trope to Hot Mom and as such only have in-universe examples?
"My life is my own" | If you want to contact me privately, please ask first on the forum.Obviously.
Yes. Nuke the RL section.
Fight smart, not fair.Okay then, done? If so, holler.
Fight smart, not fair.Yep the OP's issue got sorted out in April and the run-on thread didn't gather momentum. Locking.
Here's yet another attractiveness-related article that needs the Real Life section cut. Also, most of the media examples seem to based on the troper's personal opinions and not ones that are recognised as hot in-universe, and I'm not sure which one of those the article is about.
