So after a sort-of marathon I really took a liking to this show. I found the writing to be surprisingly sharp.
The songs on this show are excellent. I would definitely buy a soundtrack album for this show, if just for "think big".
"Make the Most of It" is my jam.
This.
"We be we baby!"The show is coming back July 6, and going to include the last four episodes of season three and the season four premier.
On a different note, Frederator did one of those "107 Facts" videos for Gumball.
It's mostly a compilation of various trivia lists like the show's wikia and TV Tropes page (I recognize some stuff that I wrote there, in fact). Most of it's right, but there are a few claims I can find no source of or that I'm sure are wrong.
Uncited (details):
- An episode is in development about Nicole's "shady past" (from the wikia uncited).
- Penny is allergic to peanuts (from the wikia uncited; I vaguely recall something like this, though)
- The live action shots comes from CA, NY, and the UK (California and the UK, yes, but I've found nothing about pictures from New York)
Mistakes (Corrections):
- Darwin is registered as a "pet fish" instead of a "student" at school (He's registered as such in his FAMILY instead of as a child)
- The CGI is mostly Studio Soi with the rest from Boulder Media (Boulder Media left the show entirely after the first season)
- The storyboard artists are only given outlines, not full script (The first season alone had ~4 page outlines given to the storyboard artists, which is why the writing in every episode is credited to the same four people. The staff started this way because that's how American cartoons of that length are usually made. Then the staff thought this was putting too much stress on the storyboard artists, so they switched to full scripts from the second season onward.)
- The show's studio is called "Cartoon Network UK" (It's "Cartoon Network Development Studio Europe", although it is based in London)
- The video narrator pronounces Bocquelet as rhyming with "chocolate" (It's actually "BOH-Kleh"; French words/names have a lot of silent consonants)
Also, I found this anecdote from an interview with Bocquelet that is not strictly related to the show, but entertaining nonetheless:
"Principal Brown and Miss Simian are in a relationship."
"The main character is Gumball."
REALLY!? I thought it was Nicole!
"We be we baby!"Was that even one of the facts?
Well, it could have been.
"We be we baby!"I don't remember that one either. I think that was just something mentioned as part of another fact (like "Gumball was the show's name before it was the main character's name").
It's a joke, you guys! Geez.
"We be we baby!"I was wondering, what's up with the front of Gumball's pants? I'm talking about the white part where the fly should be. Is that his underwear??
I believe that's his t-shirt or pocket inside out.
"We be we baby!"I always thought it was a belt buckle.
"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this."Depending on how the storyboard artists interpret it, it's been a pattern in the pants or an oversized button. What the character designer intended it to be is a mystery.
I checked the one scene I could find that shows him taking a belt off his regular clothes (when he ties his arm to a tree to try and withstand Darwin's sneeze in "The Allergy"), and that thing on his pants remained where it was.

TV Guide is listing the name of the season four premier next Friday: The Nemesis
Granted, the same guide has an obvious mistake elsewhere (it say the second episode next week is "The Return", which is an episode of another show, instead of "The Egg"), but given how this particular term was used previous in the show itself, I'm pretty sure it's legit.

Hey, I was wondering when Rob would show up again.
Who wants to bet he's totally terrible at being a bad guy?
Also, why are we spoilering this?

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Because it may be a Spoiler Title (depends on if the episode treats what it refers to as a plot twist) but one not everyone is going get immediately.

"The downer" premieres next.
"We be we baby!"Seems like this is part 1 of Rob's evil plan to get everyone in the void.
Edit: nevermind.

"We be we baby!"Well, that was... dark.
"I'll show you all of Paris, I'll take you on a tour, we'll go up and up and up so high they'll long for an encore!"A lot of people were theorizing that before "The Downer" aired in a bunch of other countries.
Even if it was framed in a funny way, the ending really makes you wonder what the hell is wrong with Gumball.
Tomorrow's episode isapparently "The Egg", which is my favorite of the last four season three episodes. It's about that blue kid Billy and his crazy mom coming over to the Watterson's house for dinner.

Sweet. Never noticed that kid before.
"We be we baby!"Am I the only one who upon seeing Billy and his mom◊ is reminded of the classic Nick Jr logo◊?
"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this."
Darwin is also two years younger than Gumball (no this is not the first thing that idea made me thinks).
