I wish to rename the Knight in Sour Armor trope to "Knight In Jaded Armor" on the grounds of incoherence. The most common definition of "sour" associates it with the taste so I feel that "Jaded" would be the better word because it means "cynical or worn out by experience" and it would also shows how the armor's "shine" (representing idealism) has worn down. It would also clear the way for a Visual Pun image of a knight in literal jade armor.

The way I read it, the Knight in Sour Armor is a former Wide-Eyed Idealist who has been repeatedly poked in the eyes by reality before he/she finally got her/himself a protective pair of Jade-Colored Glasses while still striving towards and fighting for his ideals.

At the very least, "Knight In Jaded Armor" should be an alternate title for Knight in Sour Armor.

Redirects Are Free

I'm not so sure on a rename, but I think the description could do with a serious redraft to make it clearer.

Fine with Knight in Jaded Armor as a redirect. Does it get misuse in the numerous wiks?

Edit: given the current wik count of around seven hundred wiks and almost four thousand incoming, I'll need to see serious misuse to consider a rename.

"Sour" also refers frequently to the spoiling of milk that has set out too long, to some rotting smells, and to an overall rotten personality. Sour armor would literally describe the result of wearing your armor for too long without bathing, until knight and armor both reek, so it's a fitting description for a knight who's been in the business too long to be idealistic.

I, for one, like it as it is. It certainly fits as a twist on Knight In Shining Armour, and it seems clear as day what it refers to. A knight, or hero, who has become sour about his or her role.

The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books.

Jaded is fine for a redirect, but take this as another vote to keep Sour.

Since sour and jaded are essentially synonyms in the relevant senses of the words, there's no objective reason to rename. I really doubt this is being misused, and even if it is, there's nothing much much clearer about jaded that would cause it to be an infinitely better title.
