Just wrote out 900 words in under an hour for a flash fiction writing prompt. :D
Rarely active, try DA/Tumblr Avatar by pippanaffie.deviantart.comI'm finding myself surprised at just how many themes-slash-messages I'm managing to weave into my planned story, especially given its nature. They're mostly writing-related, but still.
Got another 200+ words into a fan fiction, mostly be just writing out the dialogue but still.

The road goes ever on. -TolkienTyped/wrote about 600 words for my next novel before I had to stop to plot (and time) travel by sea, which came out to be just over a month at sea. Drew a new map, too.
My life/workHelp me, I'm in a music craze.
I'll be watching the short story course I've been meaning to finish.
Are there any good short stories out there? I haven't been able to find any.
Modern short stories or any kind?
Has anyone tried Wattpad before?
Any kind.
Okay then. I can think of some at the top of my head.
There's The Fall of the House Of Usher, The Cask of Amontillado, An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge, The Minister's Black Veil, and The Story Of An Hour.

Off the top of my head, The Most Dangerous Game is one of the best ones I've read recently.
@Masterofchaos: I haven't published with it, but from looking through it, it seems to have a similar crowd than Fan Fiction Dot Net. Basically, Sturgeon's Law ahoy.

It's still early into October, but I'm already thought about what I'm going to write for this year's Na No. It's actually a rewriting of one of my earlier projects.

Yeah, that's how I kind of feel about the site as well.
I have a few things on Wattpad (click on my sig's "Crimes Against Literature"), but yeah, it's very similar to fanfiction.net with respect to Sturgeon's Law.
My DeviantArt Domain My TumblrHas anyone seen Collen, Aqueos, or Yomegami around?
this place needs me hereRE good short stories: Hop-Frog (also known as The Eight Chained Ourang-Outangs) by Edgar Allan Poe, Rules of the Game by Amy Tan, Teenage Wasteland by Anne Tyler, Indian Education by Sherman Alexie (which was part of an anthology called The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven), The Scarlet Ibis by James Hurst... I read all those for Academic Challenge.
Huh? Aqueos probably has homework- he usually does -and I don't know about the rest. Why?

"Jack, you have debauched my sloth."Aqueos have been over at Yack Fest.
Yeah, I checked their post histories, and they've all been active today.
"Jack, you have debauched my sloth."Arrrgh, I was making a list of short stories and deleted it by accident. X(
Look up Jorge Luis Borges, Edgar Allen Poe, Ray Bradbury, and Philip K Dick to begin with. All of them are stunning. There are also some anthologies floating about - 'Tales Before Tolkien' and 'Tales Before Lewis' I can remember off the top of my head, which are both quite good.
The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeable@Ryuhza: If you're talking about the Shared Story thread, I've decided to drop out. It got a little too confusing for me, and Whitetip wasn't doing much anyway.

The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeable
Speaking of the Shared Story Thread...are there anyone else there?
By the way, this short story has a good case of a depressed protagonist.
I wouldn't say it's the best story out there, and I bet many of you will find it boring, but it's worth analyzing, like I am now.
Okay, now that I have two story ideas, I should maybe start writing one and then save the other for Na No Wri Mo. That's a good idea I think.
Also, this new story is very silly:
Only part of this was due to laziness. Yes, he was too lazy to actually reset the device to culinthesize closer to the time he actually awoke without any overseeing by a master, but, furthermore, he did not know how the damn thing worked. Despite that the dials on top that read certain times of day and certain measures of greasyness, savoryness, sweetness, wateryness, and the like looked straightforward enough, Felix was still hesitant to mess with it. Things made by wizard and for use by wizards did not necessarily follow rules of logic in their function, and not everything in the house had decided to acknowledge Felix as master of the house yet. The culinthesizer had been among the previous master’s most loyal possessions; if Felix so much as touched one of the dials, it might emit a deafening screech and chase him around the house, trying to culinthesize him.
