Okay so.
Half-eldritch something: that's ok as long as it drives the plot.
..His name is Shayde? Now that, that is edgy. What is the reason for him calling himself that way?
And he's just an ass that causes chaos and destruction at random?
Also in terms of info dump, some of that could probably be advertised better. You kind of write in a way where it's hard to follow your train of thought, and that might exacerbate problems because people won't know what to focus on.
Read my stories!his name is shaun now for irony.
MIAHeyo,
Wanted to introduce myself here because I just got a message in my inbox. I used to be active on TV Tropes as Punkreader (Hi, Mr.AHR!). Decided to be active again because I thought it might motivate me to write more.
Working on a historical fantasy novel, set in medieval Japan, used to be my old fanfiction. I do more talking than writing with my writing partner. She's justifiably annoyed, and I'm frustrated at my lack of doing anything. Protagonist is a half-yokai, half-human sex worker. The novel follows her throughout her life as she tells stories to her grandchildren and grown children, typically out of order and definitely not censored. However, I'm trying to write it with as few sex scenes as are plot-possible (I'm down to 4 or 5, all short, all as non-explicit as they can get without fading to black). I'm actually trying to cut them all out.
Her husband and children are also protagonists.
Hi again, guys, it's nice to be back!
μῆνιν ἄειδε θεὰ ΠηληϊάδεωHowdy. Welcome back :).
Read my stories!I've hit 1800 book sales. =3=
Read my stories!Congratulations!
Currently writing a dystopian/Cape Punk book called Greater and Lesser Evil. It's about a world controlled by supervillains and the resistance trying to create a new and better world. Planning for this to be my debut novel.
Stopped writing my previous series because it got too big and I think I wouldn't forgive myself if that series didn't turn out at least good. Hope I will publish my current one.
Everything that lives is designed to end.Nice!
I've been hammering away at music for my movie. So far pretty smooth, and the people I've shown it to have all said "Yeah, this is great" (well, except my parents, but they're really hard to impress)
Award-winning screenwriter. Directed some movies. Trying to earn a Creator page. I do feedback here.I'm going to read the Twilight books so, if I ever use them as an example of bad writing in the future, I can say why.
Wish me luck.
Why the fuck would you do that to yourself?
Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundGood luck. I tried. They are an excellent example of bad writing to avoid in the future. Be prepared for Bella Swan.
I didn't finish them and I still use 'em as an example of bad writing to people. I wrote essays in high school for standardized exams about it (when the films were doing their...whatever that was). Admittedly, getting to write an essay on why Bella Swan needed to go jump off that cliff with no Edward and why Hermione Granger was better, and then getting to turn that in to the state, was awesome.
Well said.

μῆνιν ἄειδε θεὰ ΠηληϊάδεωBest of luck.
I find it weird that I’ve suddenly got this spike of interest in writing certain genres that I’ve never considered.
More specifically, I’m feeling this weird inclination to write Low Fantasy and/or Hard Science Fiction, two genres I only know so much about.

Note to self: Pick less edgy username next time.I actually read them when I was a teenager, and I found parts of them were done well. Not, like, large parts, but I found that I could get invested in the plot even despite the books having like, one complex and interesting character. So that's gotta be worth something.
Though, mind, I was a teenager. They might not hold up so well now.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.and : a learning experience. If they're so bad, why are they so bad? It's better to experience it firsthand. And since one of the ways to improve your writing is to read stuff, why not read bad stuff, too? Then I can avoid problems rather than just copying the greats.
For instance, I just finished Ready Player One. It's going into the "guilty pleasure" pile. Good stuff? Some very creative settings, cheesiness, and a nice sequence where the protagonist infiltrates a MegaCorp via identity spoofing and computer backdoors. Bad stuff? Holy shit is there a lot of frontloaded exposition, the explanation of all the pop-culture references can be grating, and the protagonist acquires an awful lot of skills and stuff awfully quickly. Now I know. And knowing is half the battle! (The other half is lasers.)
That being said, I'm not really looking forward to it.
Hello, I am The Nerf Guy. I am an occasional writer, and thus I have gone through Writer's Block every now and then.
TC: For the record, meyer does have some strong points. The secondary characters in twilight who are treated with importance (aka the cullen family) are actually kinda cool.
Howdy, Nerf Guy!
Read my stories!Hey new kid.
MIA"Kid"? I mean... for all we know, The Nerf Guy might be an elderly lady. *wink*
That said, welcome! Congratulations on making the jump from lurker to active participant.
Award-winning screenwriter. Directed some movies. Trying to earn a Creator page. I do feedback here.I don't know if I should do my Viaira world considering how the bug populations are at a all time low this year.

MIAThat has no actual bearing on your story. If anything, if insect populations have hit this low for reasons that ultimately lead back to climate change or other human actions, then insects should be getting more exposure in arts and media, not less. If you want to write something, go write it.
(And on an unrelated note, I read your world name as "Viagra" at first. Might want to tweak a letter or two in that.)

"Jack, you have debauched my sloth."or you mean draw. Either way, what if I want to do research on the fleid during spring and summer and not find a single bug. Even if word my story, the green Aesop thing is going to be very subtle. It's not like it has any impact on the world anyway.
MIAI am a bit confused as to what you're trying to say. Could you perhaps rephrase?
Read my stories!Ewolf, I see you constantly second-guessing yourself on these forums and, for right now, my best advice to you is "if you think it would be fun, go for it." Just get as much practice as you possibly can. Want to make a story about bug-people? That's cool. Go for it. We'll support you and point you toward resources (and we have been), but ultimately it comes down to your effort.
PS: I'm not saying this to put you down. It's meant to empower you. =)
Award-winning screenwriter. Directed some movies. Trying to earn a Creator page. I do feedback here.tv;du: I can't bother during a work about bug people if bug populations in most of the world are decreasing. but yeah thinks. Maybe I shouldn't be worried about it that much. Maybe I could just took some local bug fanua and just breed them to make me feel better. Helps that pesticides are being banned in some places.
